The Stranglers are in my top 3 bands of all time. I struggle to respect them these days with just one original member left though. Carrying on without Dave was too much for me.

50 years...That says so much about the band and the something indescribable about The Stranglers that they have resonated since before I first heard them, aged 8, in 1980. There's a reason they are iconic and we've stuck by them, "And you should know".... 😜

I remember being at the wilmot gig at our local youth club in Finchley I sat on top of the p . a next to Pete sharp and watched my 2 older brothers in there stranglers original finchley boys t shirts with all the other finchley boys hold the line ...I was 13 ...Happy Times ❤❤

Very interesting . I preferred the Stranglers in their early days they were a great band to follow , as they became more comercialised their music changed . Theyre still a great band. But its sad that they lost Dave Greenfield and Jet Black

I was 13 when Dave Lee Travis played Peaches for the 1st time. The next day I was at New Milton Records in Whitefield Rd buying the single . On hearing this blasted out on an old Dansette my mother exclaimed “ this is disgusting filth “ & tried to tear it off the turntable. I won the fight & she never got her hands on it 😁🏴❤️

I just wanna say, I havent got anything against Paul, he sounds like a good bloke and really aimiable or amiable (?!), but I just didnt like that era... Except for "Big Thing Coming", I really love that track. 😉

When i saw a copy of thé DVD of them live at the Royal fuckin Albert Hall, I said to myself "What the fuuuck?!!" and although I was really not a fan of that particular line-up, I just had to buy it, for my Stranglers collection. I really don't like it, i thought it was terrible, i could'nt understand why thé fuck they did that, with an Orchestra and dressed up like that, but oh well, they did it. I've tried watching it 3 or 4 times but I just can't. I just think that was a really Bad Mistake, but obviously some fans think it's great. Such a terrible thing wouldnt stop me from still loving them as much as I do. Long Live The Stranglers 🖤 (Rest in Peace, Dave Greenfield, you will live on forever in the hearts of us fans😔)

What a riot! Great guys. I first saw them at Long Beach Arena in 1990 when Roland admitted for the first time that he had neglected to see the hairdresser in a while. Then saw them again in Atlanta for the Tipping Point Tour. They are hilarious and their music brings great joy to us all. And the keyboard player is from Macon and I live only about 20 minutes from there. All enjoy!

How could you listen to Golden Brown for the first time and not realise it was a massive hit. How do these people get jobs in music and not have a clue about what's good and what's not

Amazing to hear them being called sexist. Ironically, if you listen to 'princess of the street', the subject of the song is about how love hurts, and the protagonist has empowerment. Very talented songwriting.

@dirkjenkinz595 I hope I have picked you up wrong as it came across as sarcastic. Men have used that phrase, and women have called men "pieces of shit" etc and vice versa. That's what people say in real life and a sensible adult knows where to draw the line. I hope I was wrong about you.

I always thought they where finished when they came out after AC/DC at The Who concert at Wembley in 79. They started doing songs from the Raven witch had only come out that day so no-one knew them. Even the Finchley boys where throwing peaches at them. 4th song in Hugh went over to JJ said something in his ear JJ went to jet and Hugh went to Dave the song stopped and they went in to Tank.
@neilmclaughlin23472 жыл бұрын
Which is a bit strange really, as ‘The Raven’ is probably their best album. Maybe just too much of a departure?
