Hi Em at one time i'd have been round the eateries but type 2 diabetes now. No way would you get me on any of the rides.

In the late 70s, I lived in flat above the Waterloo Action Center, where the video opens, as something of a caretaker. Late one night, I heard that phone box door open and close repeatedly. That being unusual, I looked out the front window from the first floor and saw someone slip from the phone box and through the gate just to the left of it (which had been locked!). The gate opened on a narrow passage that led to the door to the flat and to the back of the building, and then to the back of Waterloo Station. As I watched, I realised there were two or three men using it to ferry stolen goods from the station to a car in a parked across from the Action Centre! They were ducking into the phone box to check that the coast was clear, explaining the banging door. I called the police, of course, and they were nicked! I'm from the States. I went to a small college based on full-time experiential field work and cultural immersion rather than classroom study. I worked with the youth project at Blackfriars Settlement for a year, and then with the Advice Centre in the Blue in Bermondsey for a couple of years. I lived at the Waterloo Action Centre for much of that time, and it brings me joy to see the WAC and take a stroll down the Lower Marsh, even if it looks nothing like it used to. Thanks!

I stayed at The Dragonfly. The room was small but it was everything I needed and the bed was so comfortable, plus amazing service and they did a great Vegetarian Breakfast for a really good price considering how nice it was and how much food you got.

It made me laugh that they had Mario's Pizza on one side of the road and Pizza Luigi on the other side of the road lol. I did get a pizza from Pizza Luigi. I wouldn't recommend it. I went there because they were the only place that listed a vegetarian pizza with olives...but it turned out on that day that they didn't have any olives, so that was disappointing. It was an okay pizza otherwise but far to expensive for something that was incredibly basic.

That Holiday Inn was still being built when I was there last year. Apparently it had been going on for quite a while so I'm glad to see that it's finally finished. Not that they really needed another hotel, there's loads of them in Blackpool.
