I love how you explained why Shirou Emiya is one of my favorite characters by offhandedly mentioning him in a video that isn’t even about Fate. It’s because even after all these years Yusei Fudo is one of my idols. The Head of the Signer Dragon. The Savior of Neo Domino. The Messiah of the Yu-Gi-Oh universe. When I was a little boy I looked up to him and that has never changed. It *will* never change. Because he is the kind of person that everyone would be lucky to meet. And not because of his skills or achievements either, just because he’s bastion of pure good. The light that shines the way to a better tomorrow. Let’s rev it up!

I realize that in the grandest of grand scheme of things this is minor, but I wanted to make a note of something about Black Garden. It affects Normal and Special summons, but *not* Flip Summons. Meaning that to enter the garden safely, you must not show your identity until you're already safely inside its walls, else the vines constrict and drain all who enter. If we're to equate Black Garden to Aki's "personal bubble", this could be seen as how Sayer/Divine managed to get his way into her personal haven, by not revealing his true intentions until after he had already entered her life.

My favorite Yugituber returns with yet another brilliant video. Halfway through the video I started to feel like I haven't watched the arc at all since I never thought of any underlying meaning in some of these earlier duels. Cannot wait to see your interpretation of later arcs, particularly 5D's vs Ragnarok or Z-ONE. I find the former fascinating, and the latter, well, he's one of my favorite fictional antagonists.

i feel like one of 5ds's strongest points is the voice acting and the OST, especially the sad ones, hopeless battle, sad end, lamentation, aki unrest and at the end of the battle are so emotional,adding to it the voice acting for Yusei. it makes every scene with those osts tear jerking

This is such an amazing video! Also, fun fact, Yuusei in Japanese means “Comet” or a shooting star, which is something that in most cultures is a sign to make a wish for the future. And comets show their signature bright tail due to it burning in Earth’s atmosphere and gets dissolved. In other words, a star that sacrifices itself for other’s wish for a better future. Kind of a reverse Ikarus where the sun came too closed to the Earth and gets burnt out (in a poetic way)

Damn bro i appreciate deep dives into 5ds like this. Im a huge fan of 5ds so its awesome to see people still analyzing it. Cant wait for tye dark signers analysis! Btw would you ever make a video explaining things you wished happened in 5ds? For example like how crow became a signer, me personally i wish that didn't happen because it took yhe spot light away from aki and lua ect.
@StardustNobody5 ай бұрын
Thank you my man! And no probably not, because I'm mostly content with what 5D's has, and any issues I do have will be covered throughout the analysis series. Also don't agree with a lot of common issues people have such as Crow becoming a signer for example, as I think it's actually one of the best and most beautiful decisions in the story
@5lomar5 ай бұрын
Appreciate the replay. And oh wow thats a surprising take, definitely need to hear an explaination to that opinion my man. Why do you think it's beautiful? Personally I can't help but think it was a mistake because of the people in charge of the anime at the time, like idk if the writers knew what they wanted to do with crow. Like at the end of one episode he's engulfed in this haze that auto kills people, but a few episodes later he pulled an Indiana Jones and survived by hiding in a fridge. And he doesn't even have a real signer dragon, it's just a card he found in his duel runner from the previous owner, like brah. Like one of the directors that stayed to do seaosn 2 admitted in interviews that he isn't the best at writing female characters that's why aki gets done dirty in season 2 ect. But yeah I'm pretty autistic on this crow part so sorry if I'm annoying. I respect any difference in opinion tho and still open to changing mine if I'm missing anything.
@StardustNobody5 ай бұрын
@@5lomar You're all good! I will definitely be going in massive depth in it during the later parts! So I hope you can appreciate my full explanation then! For now, I will just say I think it's a beautiful culmination of so much Crow is; a dreamer who was always forced to live for the dreams of others, his hero, his friend, the children he lived for. And by following and realizing the truth of the hero who put him so much onto this path (Godwin), is he recognised by the Crimson Dragon, and is able to begin slowly evolving from someone who followed the dreams of others, into someone who forged his own. With Black Feather Dragon reflecting him and this evolution of sacrifice so much (As Aki says in episode 130 summing this up wonderfully) "It whittles away at itself, turning its pain into power; which I guess is Crow's personality in a nutshell" There's SO much more to it than this, but I hope this can you tide you over till the later parts come out with much more depth!

It's so genuine that you can't help but respect everything it has to say. Even outside of yugioh, 5Ds is an amazing story told amazingly and a classic.

To me it's zexal but 5D's is second. A few of the reasons I view zexal as superior lies in some of the plot issues 5D's has. Z-one is among my favorite villains in all of yugioh but his reveal basically breaks the whole story apart. The show operates under the logic that yusei's flaws is what made the scientist turn into z-one. The scientist recreated yusei's consciousness using historical data and implanted it into his brain, reaching something similar to divine possession. That is possible with science because in yugioh both magic and science are basically two sides of the same coin. Revolver managed to take the consciousness of people using science while Doma used magic to do so. In dark side of dimensions kaiba's new solid system (science) copies the power of prana (omnipotence on microverse level) to protect him and mokuba from aigami's cube (magic). Z-ine did something similar with his friends comsciousnesses except that they were put into robots. For us to engage with the story we have to see those robots as the real characters. Antinomy's death has no effect if we don't view him as the real one. Same for aporia's backstories. That's what the face plate of z-one shows. It's not just decoration. He really formatted his brain into a way which allowed yusei's consciousness to inhabit it. For yusei the biggest sin is to not be able to repent for his fathers actions, even if he has to die for it. He is quite suicidical if you think about it, a twisted version of jesus. Jose has parallels to the wandering jew. Yusei's consciousness takes over the scientist and he commits the ultimate sin by failing to save humanity. So he is all desperate now. With him also being the last human alive, he creates this insane plan and that's how he becomes the shows main villain. He becomes z-one. The issue is that the yusei in z-one's timeline probably never turned out to the the guy we see in the actual timeline. The secientist becoming a villain due to yusei's flaws is also supported by antinomy telling yusei that he has to save z-one. Antinomy meant that yusei can only save himself if he can save z-one. Yusei grows in this duel by overcoming his flaws and quaser symbolizes that. It solely consists of the other signer dragons with rua's life stream dragon as the tuner, the core. Rua was the signer past. yusei would have tried to save the hardest. When quaser gets destroyed shooting star appears and thanks to clustering wishes stardust appears when shooting star got destroyed. Stardust embodies yusei. So yusei is no savior, he is being saved. He is not leading others, he is being lead. Another massive issue is the original yilaster. The original yilaster is basically to the main yugioh universe (DM, GX, 5D's) what the league of assassins is to the arrowverse. In the shadows they heavily manipulated all the major historical events for thousands of years. Yet z-one and his group could easily write them out of history using their reality-device and take their places. By that logic they should be easily able to just write out the momentum as well, given that it's historcial impact is much lower than yilaster's. I don't believe the show ever specified that the momentum is a historical fixpoint in time. Iam not one of the fortune cup and dark signer arc purists who act like this was the peak and everything after that was rubbish. I don't like the dark signer arc except for a few scenes and duels. It's just very bad written overall, especially the dark signers and izayoi. But I cannot deny that the later part of 5D's has some issues which impact the story of the show very negatively. And zexal just doesn't have those issues on that scale. Fans say stuff like yuma cheated vs vector by rewriting a card in his hand which is actually rubbish. Yuma took a barian card and infused it with astral world powers to create a neutral numeron card. That makes sense because we later learn that both the barian world and astral world powers are coming from the numeron code. Hence limited barian force changing to numeron force. So zexal being not seen as peak is rather the issue of the fandom not understanding it than the shows shortcomings. Yuma and shark alone have no equals writing wise which even includes yusei who is very well written.

I feel bad for Jack. He’s so tragic, loses everything and even in the end, he still has his “king” mentality that he will never be even though he’s changed so much in the best way possible. Just an individual that was put in the world to be a foil, the very embodiment of a false prophecy. I hope someday he gets justice, no matter what type of character they made him to be, he did not deserve the harsh treatment he got in the later show and especially that “future” they gave him.

My favorite thing dealing with the anime is the Bonds Beyond Time movie. In my perspective, Bonds Beyond Time’s premise could have easily been a whole anime arch by itself. Picture if the time period during the Duel Monsters anime that the events of the movie happened during was the Battle City tournament, Jaden and Yusai could have been mistaken as Rare Hunters due to their deck archetypes not existing yet.
