It depends on what you listen to. This 6010 is fast and clean. It's all round suitable for all kinds of music. If vocal is your preference, then a tube preamp is most suitable. Usually they are very musical with magical vocal.

Lampizator is/was a huge proponent of Open Baffle speakers. He had a dedicated site to his journey building them. Many of your audio objectives might be realized with a shift in speaker design. Your Amos have excellent clarity and likely good imaging. There is an openness to boxless speakers that is intoxicating. Space is an issue however. I’m using bookshelf speakers now due to my living situation. Just my two cents. Great channel btw!

@ The bad news is that many of the vintage drivers he advocates are now insanely expensive. The good news is that there are many high efficiency drivers being manufactured that are reasonably priced…even some alnico. I preferred 16ohm drivers because I could run 4 in parallel and still have a reasonable overall impedance for the amp. I look forward to seeing g what you come up with!

Hi Thomas, came across your interesting video on this Raspberry 1387 Dac, could you kindly share where you got the circuit board from and the essential parts for this raspberry dac. Thanks
@thomasdiyaudio53534 ай бұрын
I used standard single side prototype board for point to point soldering. The circuit is very simple hence I didn't bother getting printed circuit board. The most important component is the output capacitor which pretty much decides the sound quality. I use GAD and if you can invest more, go for Mundorf Aluminium Oil or Miflex. I buy all my components on Taobao from mainland China. If you live outside of Asia, you get buy them from Aliexpress. For north America, partsconnexion.com sells high quality capacitors at very reasonable prices. Some are actually cheaper than Taobao. After you finish building this basic one, I highly recommend you to add tube output stage. I have a few videos on this. Tube output takes the DAC to a different level. Personally, I prefer the Lampizator output to the Audio Note one. Have fun!

@thomasdiyaudio53539 ай бұрын
Each of the preamp I have built (tube and solid state) is very good with its own sound signature. If you have to ask me, my personal preference of solid state is the Goldmund 27. It pairs well with solid state power amp and probably best with Goldmund (I do plan to build one when I got a chance). I am using the Goldmund 27 to drive my vintage 40 years old Leach power amp as my TV/video sound system which I use almost every day. If you want just vocal and simple classical music, then I would high recommend Audio Note all the way. Preamp, power amp and speaker. I have videos of these. Absolutely stunning. You can't find anything else with this musicality.

@@thomasdiyaudio5353 Good morning and thank you very much for your very kind and valuable response I know Audio Note and their great sound but they are out of my league Speaking of the Goldmund, I see that there are clones both to be assembled and already assembled Personally I was looking at some Accuphase clones of which I saw in a video very good measurements such as perfect square wave response from 20 to 20kHz. If I think that I hear 14kHz at most I'm studying the Goldmund carefully, the schematic of which I found online I see it has a first stage buffer - volume - output stage Few preamps have an input buffer which I think is beneficial Thanks again and best regards gino
