The Cave of Bad Dreams is completely skipped during Menhir Hills around 24:00. We don't go see Clark so we don't need to go to the Cave

I used the last version of Duckstation with default settings, I can send you a screen of my settings if you want. Epsxe has even faster loading (close to some PS2 models) but I didn't use it for 100% because I didn't want to win only because it wasn't fair for you

@@lannreidd Yeah, I can understand that feeling. I used Bizhawk, because at the time it seemed like one closest to usual PS1 performance. Though, the one WR-holder before me, whose account seems to have been removed from the platform, apparently even used an emulator with barely any loading time and even allowed for some glitches that would crash on console. So I'm glad to see that a more faithful approach is being used here. Can't wait to see your next runs. Maybe even with more glitches? :D

I'll try to get the Whale Bay barrel skip and the Canopy door skip consistently, but for now I'm trying not to make any mistakes on the whole run. I prefer to be safe but few errors, that's why my Echoing Caves is different from yours, to end with the ledge glitch (I don't like this door skip). If you want to switch to epsxe 2.0 for faster loading times, I have no problem with it, I would switch to that too :D

@@lannreidd I haven't speedrun a lot yet. But I was always a fan of the philosophy of keeping it as close to console performance as possible. I think it would take away the fun for those who prefer running on actual console. Though, considering my own contribution to the game has been extremely small (only really the Whale Bay barrel skip), it would be unfair to set the standards for other, way more active runners. And due to this being a níche category of a níche version of a fairly níche game, I don't really think it will matter a lot for now. I'm just really glad it's still active. :3

Yes you are right, the fastest version to my knowledge is apparently some models of PS2 but even on console it is not consistent. The best solution would be to remove the loading times but it would need to be able to setup livesplit to remove them automatically. I will make a comparison betwenn my loading times and yours to see the difference

Yeah me too, the whole PS1 game is my favorite version ! That's why I speedrun this one

@@lannreidd i want to start speedruning this game too but i need a PS3 controller to hace at least some chance, my best time was on the ps1, 2 hours with no glitches used xD

That's a good start to learn the speedrun if you know the game without glitches, I did the same. For this run I used a Nacon PS4 Controller and I played it on an older version of Duckstation than the current one but now I use epsxe 2.0 and I have the same loading time than the previous WR but I think PS2 is the fastest one

@@lannreidd sadly i only have a PS1 fat in my hands i cannot try with the ps2 and i'm planning on playing on emulator, using retroarch but if the one you use its better i Will switch to that one
