i was goign to buy one when i sold all me studio anmd had a few quid my problem was everyone had some kind of issue and not really up to spending a grand on what may well turn out to be duff and its costing a small fortune in a repair and the kind of repairs that never stop either and in end it does get to the point of where ya spent more on repairs than what you paid for it and when it starts getting like that time to let go so whats why i never bought one and instead i bought a korg wavestate and do i regret the wavestate over the access no cause the wavestate does everything i wanted a synth to do and i wasnt sure the access did twhat i wanted or not and it was just an acid synth and why take a chance

This is the one piece of equipment I’ll acquire when I’ve dialled in every other step in my recording, mixing & (mastering), methods… …I’m fairly confident I can’t master beyond basic EQ. My mind is sensing that during production of sounds, for tracks, it would be best practice to use an Xpressor after subtracting the unwanted frequencies from those individual sounds… …after a while you’d learn what sounds need what frequencies subtracting. It’s like in colour theory, for best blues you want to subtract the yellows - can’t see them, but they’re there. Subtle purifications added up will output a night & day song compared to a version lacking such (time consuming) dedication to sound shaping. It really depends.
@johnnyposhАй бұрын
From my experience I would say your spot on, eq out some of the unwanted then compress as needed. I personally find myself using the xpressor as a bus comp and also my go-to for needing to really dig on a sound, but when digging I always eq after the comp.

I'd love to try one ..Just hate that TI is so expensive (over 2 grand now) -- Hard for me to justify when Iridium Core is $600 less for a new one, and if I spend that much on a synth, I'd love to have the largest sound pallet possible. I've never had any experience with any Virus other than the plugin that emulates the Virus A/B using original DSP code, so maybe I'd feel differently if I got some hands on time with a real one.

Cool video. Thanks... Honestly I've got some plugins that do part of the analog thing well enough... But it just doesn't quite capture that 3D thing from actually physically going through transistors and transformers and capacitors and stuff.... So I'm planning on picking up one of these both for some tracking and mostly for mixed bus... As well as some other duties like virtual instruments.... There's just something about analog It's subtle but it's really organic. Even without running any compression

I'm currently putting together a modest but thoroughly decent project studio. I'm primarily a guitar/bass/drums/engineer guy but can get around on keys and want to have some toys for ppl to get inspired, write, have fun. Currently I have a Korg OpSix (I love fm synthesis/80's sounds), Korg MS20 mini, Korg Microsynth and Arturia Drum machine (drum brute?) and want to expand. I'm looking at units like the Prophet 08, Novation Peak, Korg Wavestate and Polysix. Any opinions? Other options? I also want a bass syntj and would appreciate opinions. Sub37/25, phatty, novation basstation, Minitaur? Thx, hreat video. Subbed.

I suggest getting different brands instead of sticking to one brand, ive found when playing around on same brands they all sound similar, not the same but similar if that makes sense. For a bass synth if you want in a sense a holy grail of possibly greatest mono synth I would suggest a sequential Pro 3. Moog is Moog, but heard lots of horrible build quality issues on the sub37/25 and its kind of in the realm of doing that one thing whereas the pro 3 does that one thing and more. Lots of options out there for poly synths these days, really just depends what your looking to achieve which sounds like inspiring machines so I would look at things that are simple with lots of knobs to be able to craft on the fly fast like anything sequential, or hydrasynth, could even look at an access virus. Hope that helps I know for certain the pro 3 is next on my list after much research!

Hello, how did you calibrate left/right channels when you switched the tubes?
@johnnyposh5 ай бұрын
Theres two little small screw pots close to each tube, what you want to do is send a signal (test tone) through each channel and monitor the level it is sending out whilst you adjust those pots so the l/r is the same in stereo. Also check in dual mono as i also noticed each channel was different when in this mode so I set them as close as possible in both stereo/dual.
@iamgeorgesears5 ай бұрын
@@johnnyposhYeah, I tried to do that both in stereo link and dual mono, and each mode is different even in same know position no matter how I balance each side with the trim potentiometers. I work at TV and got my unit to our guys in audio engineering to test the tubes and they were old, so they gave me new ones in 100% shape and there is still imbalance no matter how I tweak the damn thing inside. Also, the balance is out when under compression and out of it. It's actually impossible to calibrate this damn thing. I will have to take it to an electrical engineer to take a look at it, because I just cannot trust a thing that has difference in L/R for any serious application.
@johnnyposh5 ай бұрын
So myne was also out a hair also. Dosent help the indentation for the stereo balance is not perfectly centered, so to overcome this i set myne to one click left (of what visually looks like center) in stereo is center, then one click right in dual mono on channel two means its same output as channel one. I would be curious if theirs a better way to stereo link the unit as you said its impossible to make it correct hehe. This is what you get for the pricepoint its at, 99% of its use for me is in mixdowns and yet to encounter any serious issues come the masters.
