Simon is a proto-incel. Rejected, unliked, outcasted, at odds with his life and society. And he's in the 90's - roughly - so the whole hoody with vaguely looking hiphop/ metal font is even on him. Something you see in sort of edgy psuedo-retro incelcore stuff along with blunts, references to shooters and crusy internet jpegs. The entire being of simon is the heart and soul of that clique, in that, it's a real presentation of something inherently unwanted or repulsive to many, but something in reality many, many people identify with and do anything they can to tell themselves they don't by rebelling against it. That make him a really good "literally me" character. There is no cool side to simon, all the thing that elevate him would have him being called a nice guy neck beard entitled baby on the net or "just be stoic, bro and lift" on the other half of the net.
