Would you recommend going to a program that assigns clinical placements instead?

Yes mos def! the only thing is sometime you dont realize that they dont offer clinical placements till youre already well in the program. you would have to have asked around before starting the program

Why do you wear a Lab Coat? I absolutely cannot stand people playing Dr.

A white coat isn’t only for MDs, do you know even physical therapists are coated during school? At the end of the day it’s just a symbol, what matters is the care and knowledge the person has. I’ve seen doctors that are very cold with their patients and the NICEST provider I have ever seen while working at a hospital was a nurse practitioner.🤷‍♀️

But the problem with the statement “can provide the same quality of care”, is that on average, the knowledge gap is huge between the two professions. Doctors are usually not opposed to np scope expansion (they didn’t fight when it was DOs), when an increased education and training volume is in question… but, NP is FAR from providing the skills and knowledge equivalent to that attained in med school.

Agree. I was in NP school before going to medical school. I work with NP and some of them are really good and understand their limitations. If people really want to know the difference between NP and MD/DO, they should ask someone who was an NP that attended medical school.

Great video! I was halfway through primary care AGNP school when I started in the ICU and worked directly with CRNAs during COVID but the field never piqued my interest. I stayed an RN for an additional year after graduating and after realizing that the 9-5 life wasn't for me but, I didn't want to go back to bedside, I applied and just got accepted into CRNA school. It was a challenging application progress as an NP but God is faithful. I agree that the FNP route has many options that I was limited to as AGNP. Congrats on your journey!

I like one to one more than many patients. I like being busy, but not like crazy busy. I dont want to work with children because I simply do not have the patience 😂 Ive been wanting to be in Midwifery or women's health for the longest time. But now that I have a family I find myself thinking I should choose something more flexible. Also Im not so good with night shifts. But midwifery is whats in my heart. So its really difficult.
