I was obviously knackered and quite possibly drunk at the end of that, so let me clarify what I was attempting to say on "Thone" of Bhaal. The writing is substantially poorer in ToB than in BG1 and BG2:SoA. It's generally bad across the board, but the worst aspect is the player character. If you were roleplaying as a bloodthirsty idiot through the rest of the series, you're all set, but otherwise it is infuriating. The point I failed to make in the video was about the high level abilities. BG is a series about carrots on sticks and its biggest carrot is the level-up. The reason for this is that few games manage to squeeze so much power into their level ups. Mages are famously quadratic, but most classes' level-ups feel multiplicative rather than additive. This stops in Throne of Bhaal because you already have the most powerful spells. So instead they introduce high level abilities which give you a new one each time. Level 22: +1 HLA, Level 23: +1 HLA. It loses the scope and scale and while they are not bad they don't have the sense of growth that the normal levels produce. I think it is unlikely that I will do ToB any time soon.

Having watched so many let's plays and cringed at minor things being missed, it is now painful watching me talk about dual classing at level 9 while the dual class button remains greyed out just next to my cursor.
