Bit of advice: try identifying the problem that you'll be fixing before you start fixing it. That way people know if they're watching the right video FOR THEIR particular problem. Your audience will thank you. IO didn't have a problem with motion graphics and it took me 5 minutes of watching before I figured out that you were addressing an entirely different issue than the one I had

Hey Luke: When overdubbing, is the H1n sending to your headphones BOTH the base track (meaning whatever you recorded before) PLUS whatever instrument you're overdubbing with OR is it solely the base track? Thx.

I've had mine for a couple of years and yeah, the only complaints I have are no cold shoe and yes, having to use a powered mic. Other than that, love it! This is why they've held their value in tough marketplace.

The reason why it has a very narrow angle instead of wide angle is because of the default settings. I own a Vixia HF-R606 (optical hardware wise and picture quality wise is basically the same as R800) and I found that you can make the shot much wider by changing the "Zoom Type" settings from "32x" to "57x". The catch is, although you get wider shots, the stabilization will be not so great but still usable.

The files don't take up much room because of low mbps. Which is fine with me since I'm not editing much. Going for an intentional camcorder look.

The powered mic I use on my Canon Vixia is the Neewer CM15 which operates on one AA battery. It comes with a foam windscreen, and a dead cat. The dead cat is the one to use because it will not cut out the high frequencies like a foam windscreen will.

Also, this camcorder does have a 3.5mm microphone-in port, correct? If so, where do you place the external microphone since it has no hot/cold shoe?
