Looks like the lady you’re playing with is in the right skill level, but I’d suggest you drop down to 3.5 until you get some solid results
@QuentinWalls3 күн бұрын
Great job and great coverage. Noticed that 3 of the 5 teams you played had a 4.6/4.7 player on their team. Serious question, is that within an acceptable amount over, or is it sandbagging?
@EddieAndWebby3 күн бұрын
Yes, that is an acceptable skill level. Anybody with a skill level under 5.0 is eligible for 4.5 divisions. Realistically, I should be doing 3.5 division tournaments. However, I like to challenge (some say torture) myself by doing the next skill level up from time to time. 😆🤣
@elliottfletcher48304 күн бұрын
At least you had fun and realized you were a bit over-matched...not too badly though, in the highlights you hung around in points quite well so you know you can score at that level, just need to gain consistency! Good power on your serve but not bending your arm lessens the effectiveness. (sorry, can't help myself) 😅

Nice coverage of the court! Are you using a tripod standing on the floor or a mount on the fence?

In that 3rd game did that guy side eye his partner after he popped up a ball that she got crushed on? Hopefully he was telling her he was sorry. Keep battling Webby!
@EddieAndWebby4 күн бұрын
I have a feeling it was an apologetic side eye. I am pretty much constantly giving apologetic gestures to my partner during tournaments. 😆🤣 -Webby

@@EddieAndWebby Same here, I've gotten so bad I apologize when my partner messes up. No reason for both of us to feel bad!
@cubenipulaio6 күн бұрын
One thought: try and hit to the backhand more because you’re getting more points that way and hitting their forehand likely gives them an easier way to hit a passing shot.
@cubenipulaio6 күн бұрын
Also try and hit your serves and returns more aggressive, and deeper in the court, so your opponents have less options

It's probably money unfortunately, I don't know how much CCR cost to set up at an event, the UPA is probably trying to cut corners and going to try to do their own line calls and probably steal you guy's idea by setting cameras on the lines.
@jedkirk-j6l24 күн бұрын
This guy Jason Aspes is just a blatant liar. UPA is allowing the more powerful and more spinny Joola 3s paddles at PPA, the paddles that failed testing by the USAP. Its a money grab by UPA (the parent company of PPA and MPL) because Joola paid them a fortune to allow these paddles. These Joola paddles never passed USAP certification, the paddles Joola sent in that were certified were the "wrong" paddles, they were different paddles, as Joola admitted, claiming it made an administrative error. Jason Aspes has a complete lack of expertise, and is completely incompetent to be running a paddle testing company, and hasn't hired any engineers or paddle testing experts. PPA's paddle testing has been a disaster from the start and the subject of many complaints of errors, favoritism and dishonesty.

Great try! How do you do the math to know you are a 4.0 player? Thanks
@EddieAndWebbyАй бұрын
This is a good general breakdown of the skill levels in pickleball. Beginner Level: 2.0: New player, learning basic mechanics and rules. 2.5: Beginning to sustain short rallies, improving basic skills Intermediate Level: 3.0: Understands fundamentals, can construct points, consistent serve and return 3.5: More advanced shot placement, quicker movement, strategic play Advanced Level: 4.0: High level of skill, excellent shot selection, can adapt to different opponents 4.5: Expert level, consistently executing advanced shots with minimal errors

Ben Johns moved next door to me a couple of months ago, and we started playing pickleball a few times a week on my private court, and logging the matches in DUPR. He’a fine with it unless I start to win. In the beginning I lost every game 11/0, but now, while I still loose every game, I’m scoring 3-6 points a game. I’m clearly getting better, at least against Ben, but according to DURP logic, I’m getting worse…yeah, it’s not a very good system anymore.

I was disappointed in hearing that the UPA discontinued the close call service. I think that shows that they are trying to take over and control the entire sport by using the subterfuge of saying it is for the professional game. I fear they “learned” from you so they could just do it themselves instead of promoting a company that innovated the process. The more I see of what they are doing the more I dislike their process. Gone will be the small companies that innovate the sport. I fear this will become another large governing body that turns this into another large sport with no competition of product makers other than a handful. I feel the UPA and AI should be approached with caution until it is shown they have our and not their corporate greed interests in mind. Ok rant over 😆. All the best to you and yours and the new year brings you the credit and success it deserves 🍻✌🏻🌶

Thank you for the kind words!! To your point, it seems like the spirit of pickleball is slowly fading and it's becoming just like every other sport. Perhaps that's just the way things work out in the world of professional sports. Thanks again, and we appreciate and value your comment!! - Eddie

On court live play and learning how to change strategies can give you an edge even against better players. Communicate what to do or try with partner is sometimes your best way to beat them. Everyone has favourite shots and hide their weak spots. Your job is to figure out that to get ahead.
