Absolutely terrific miniseries the production the writing the music was so incredible. The journey was just riveting The only part I question is did the Japanese charge them blindly just to get slaughtered

Wasn't as good as BoB...still a good series though. I feel like it should have just focused on sledge instead of trying to be all over the place. Also would have been nice if it didn't completely ignore the Army infantry's fight in the pacific. For example, Okinawa was largely an Army Infantry fight and did most of the fighting and dying on that island.I believe the dead eyes (96th ID) spent more time slogging against the southern defense lines than nearly both the 1st and 6th marine divisions combined.

First I want to commend HBO for this and many other projects. Not many corporations would invest so much in a project. The cast and crew of each project do a tremendous job. To the cast and crew of The Pacific, God Bless. This series is so real it pulls you into the events, you identify with the characters. In a way you become a part of the scene. I have read countless books written by veterans of WWII. One set, The History of the United States Marine Corps in WWII, starts at Wake island. One page enumerates all the ammunition expended to kill each Japanese soldier on the island. Having read that page the series portion on Peleilu was not over stated in the series.

Look the pacific is good. But its not in the same universe as BOB. Id say about 5 of the 10 episodes of the pacific are really really good but thats it

the pacific is an amazing, unforgettable, shocking and horrifying experience, every people should watch it, together with band of brothers of course

at 3:07 - really annoyed to see that Hanks/Speil et al made the really lame and rookie mistake to use/show blank 30 cal cartridges.... they "claim" to be the best historical storytellers and in film have the best attention to detail, but just look here.......really upset!!! - ( on another note - The Pacific and BOB are my fave war movies, and I spent 10+ years in the Army )

When the veterans came to visit the set that must have been something for those actors and bring it to a whole new reality. I believe they did them proud with this series and my debt of gratitude for all those veterans is endless
