Cool of you to share, I'm impressed of your mindset! Innovation is what drives civilisation forward, those who don't have the skills to adapt to change will push back against any improvement in technology. However any civilization though history that has failed, to stay on top of innovation in any part of technology in society, they domed themselves to the junkjard of history. You never know what advantage in technology that will save the day, life or death, for you as an individual or as a society. So anyone, everything & anywhere needs to be aiming for improving technology. That's the mindset of winners as opposed to the looser of the Darwin race for life.

Having been a tech inspector the rule "interpretation" was hilarious. Been there and fought that- read the rules, not what you want them to say. BTW a interpretation outside of written text can be actionable in court. You may win but never be accepted back.
@AKracecars22 күн бұрын
@@ronv6637 haha! Yeah unfortunately tech is the judge, jury, and executioner. There’s also a catch-all phrase at the beginning of the rule book saying “all interpretations are at the official’s discretion and the official’s word is final” which gets them out of any legal ramifications

Thank goodness you didn't go with hydraulic steering! You throw a PS belt; you have *no steering!* And at race speeds, too! There's a reason that no cars with either hydraulic or electronic _assisted_ steering have ever deleted the mechanical connection entirely. It's simply too dangerous as a "fail-deadly" system. At least a conventional PS gives you (heavier) steering control in the case of loss of assist. I'd like to think full hydraulic steering wouldn't pass tech inspection.

Knew a guy back in the late '90s who took an IMCA/UMP Mod run on dirt to 5 Flags in Pennsicola one time, and just had some very old McCreary IMCA tires (back when the local tracks in south Louisiana and Mississippi switched away from IMCA so the regular tire was the Hoosiers) and didn't bother changing the suspension setup at all (old GRT or i forget the brand, Texas made iirc. Used a Gremlin style roof, very dirt oriented chassis, 5 link, pull bar) and did surprisingly well even hiking the inside front well off the ground. My buddy with his '91 Dirtworks (Chevelle frame, 3 link/lift bar) had an easier swap, but was not going to buy the IMCA rims to be legal ("She's saving me money by forcing me to pay twice as much for rims as I normally do, then the sticker comes off the first time my kid pressure washes the car.")

Just knowing that you created something that was better than the norm has to make you feel good and knowing that the rules were changed because of something you created. I'm a bit perplexed about the "tire frequency" bit. Humans can't hear much below 20 Hz, some as low as 12 Hz but 2-3? I think the sound we're hearing is an artifact of the engine RPM against available traction.
