That's a feeling I struggled with too. It's a lot easier to just buy all you can instead of focusing on what possibly suits your interests. What helped for me was prioritizing Traveling Spirits and making wishlists for specific items that caught my eye.

I'm a 4 Year Veteran, I actually recommend buying all the TS Items the First Time you see them. You will Save Candles on their next Visit and You can Use those Candles for New Items.

That's a valid opinion though, they could be appealing to some in that sense but they're indeed very weird looking. Yeah I expected the Snufkin fit to be the most popular but the amount of people I've seen wearing the tail is surprisingly low (but also understandable given its weird categorization and pricing)

There's a few things I did to build them up rather quickly: •Add lots of active friends and get light from them each day •Try trading hearts with friends that you can rely on to send a heart back •Make sure to buy all the hearts you can from Regular Spirits, past Seasons' guides, and Traveling Spirits •Do your best to complete a Season's quests when the Season is still live, since the hearts it can give will be free •Look out for Double Gift events (Days of Giving should be coming soon) •Just ask for hearts through Shared Memories (try to record your Shared Memory in popular areas that people hang around at for a while, and maybe try to be helpful by providing a recharge with a candle)
