This is played for laughs for most of it, but the Teddy-Jonah dynamic, especially the talk Teddy gives in the beginning about Jonah not going through him before meeting Doyle, is not very far off from intra-administration power plays in the actual US government. Veep is probably one of the best modern representations of the US government, from the stubbornness and temper of the officials and aides to the trouble of most politicians being out of their depth when dealing with voters, even though everything in the show is played for laughs.

Often what happens is a follow up joke is funnier but you are laughing from the first one and you dont digest it, at the end Teddy tells jonah, "write on your blog, mary", and right after that Dan call Teddy "BooBoo the ball fondling bear" which is the most spot on insult for Oswald Patton. Its like when Richard got called " a paddington bear looking motherfucker" that was also phenomenal.

I love the fact that the writers on this show declare very few things off limits, and Jonah is an easy target but I still winced a lot more than I laughed every time Teddy appeared in the frame - a truly odious creation.
