I must have been attacked by a button when I was a toddler. Pearlescent buttons give me the willies. Also buttons are heavier in bulk than you’d imagine.

@@TimMitra I love this. I have a tiny cringe with buttons…. But it’s not repulsive it’s like….something mysterious. Thanks for sharing your Willie’s that is awesome to know about. Overall I find buttons entice my imagination…

I love old buttons; my grandmother was a seamstress and i have a collection of her old buttons from the 30s-60s. The quality is vastly superior to todays' buttons. I have several of those old abalone buttons like u have there ❤

That's a great point. New buttons sometimes just crack. I bought some for a vintage faux fur coat...got a dry cleaner to sew them on...and they were breaking the first day in winter when I put the coat on! The material is stronger and more resilient in vintage buttons. You are so lucky to have some of your grandmothers collection. Thanks for sharing, I love to hear these stories.

I have this song a CD I bought from a thrift store in Philly. Guy had his entire punk cd collection in the thrift for like 25¢ a piece. Dolt 45 was on a CD with a bunch of other artists, but every single song was so fucked up and scratched they wouldn’t play. Looked it up and found this song, “Tourette’s” on Bandcamp. Wicked. Love from Boston

When was this recorded? The band recorded several lp’s in the late 1970’s and one in 1980. The band sounded a lot better on those old lp’s they made back then than here. Listen to what the band sounded like on this track from a 1980 lp I posted on my channel. What a difference. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXKQdGeEqd-jo5o

Hi Melanie, this is a rough trailer for one of my short films. It doesn't have a soundtrack on this uploaded version. It's an experimental film, without traditional beginning middle or end. Thanks for watching. I hope to post a trailer with music soon.

and thanks @AndrewLopez, yes we did derive from The Joaquin Brothers band.. if anyone is interested in more waila videos, check out the video entitled "Waila Vault 1980-1994" or the Documentary on Waila Music:Making the People Happy

thanks for the positive feedback everyone!! @Frank: sorry we just call this one "karen's song", alot of the music is passed down by ear.. so titles and composers are mostly unknown. @Kory: thanks, and no, we've never heard of Ironworld. @AndrewLopez: thanks also, and if you're talking about Richard Garcia, he was our accordian player, not sax, but much respect to Rich.. we all miss him =)) *sidenote- most Waila bands these days have dropped title of "chicken scratch" and go strictly by 'Waila Music', Waila is the O'odham term for "Dance"

Waila (Chicken Scratch) music also includes strong German and Czech influences, especially Polka, much as Tejano. Canada's 'Ukrainian Zabava' is also a melange that includes many cross-cultural elements, including Polka. All these musical styles in their current incarnations have been influenced by modern popular music, including rock & rap. But Tohono O'odham players are not 'emulating' any more than Canadian 'Ukrainian Zabava' bands are 'emulating' their varied sources.

First of all... I am willing to bet that any drummer playing Ryan Adams would likely fall off of his drum stool if he decided to sit in with this band. The difference between Jim Derogotis and those of you who are criticizing him is that Jim actually has musical talent. The difference between Vortis and Ryan Adams is that Vortis has substance and originality in their music, while Ryan Adams is bullshit pop music created in a board room and sold too little snots like you.

@SPS148669 Chicken Scratch is a blend of Mexican and Native American music. It no way resembles Ukranian Zabava style music. Although is sounds familiar, it is a totally different style. But damn.....it sounds good.
