I have a 2005 R1200RT and can’t figure out how to adjust the ESA, my manual show how to adjust it only how to manually adjust it by hand in other words its not a ESA system that it’s showing, do you have a video on how to set up the ESA on this bike?

Hello, what about rear shocks? I noticed there are two types of spring, at least when looking at the color and the coil. Some are grey and some are white and seem thicker.

Ted I sure appreciate your quick reply VIA email to guild me to the correct GS911 for my 2022 BMW S1000RR. Now the only dealer visits will be by choice! As in not interested or willing to check valve clearances. Not those pesky ‘Check control message’ that says yearly service due! Miles until required? 6K! Date and time due despite needing nothing. I personally don’t flush brake system every 12 months. But also don’t use recommended oil change per BMW. 2-3K max between oil changes. If run hard might even be under 1k before draining that worn out lifeblood. Even with full synthetic oil

Hallo Ted, thank you for these video,s. I like and learn from them a lot. I have a 2006 bmw k1200 gt with esa 1 suspension. The strange thing is that since a few weeks there are no esa signals anymore on my dash. No helmets, no luggage and no soft ,comfort or sport. Whatever I try it is not coming back. I have deactived esa with motoscan and then reactivated it. That does not work also. Do you have any suggestions. I would-be very gratefull. Best regards from the netherlands.

If you happen to be in Istanbul, stop by MOTOSENKRON and have all the shock absorbers of BMW motorcycles repaired with a one-year warranty, very cheap 250 euros.

Thanks for that info. That's certainly an option if upgrading to better shocks is not in a rider's budget, but for many riders the comparatively low performance of the stock BMW shocks is just not acceptable. The improvement in traction and ride quality in the aftermarket shocks is transformative. When I buy a new BMW, I usually replace the shocks within the first few weeks of ownership, I just can't ride on the low performing stock shocks. ;-)

Hello, Good video. My bike is 2017 R1200GS Rallye with Dynamic ESA. I will replace my stock absorbers with rebuilt ones by Wilbers soon, I have HEX GS-911 and going to calibrate suspension by myself. But BMW Mottorad manual says that before calibrating, you must raise the motorcycle in the center so that the wheels are suspended in the air and use the recommended charger, which guarantees a 13 Volt mains supply. What do you think on this, is it necessary? Thank you in advance.

I have the same question - video looks like bike is on the center stand - what about the front? Service Manual asks for both wheels off the ground.

Not a heat shield, but I bet it does do a great job in shielding cool air from cooling the shock... so I suppose you said it right, or ever better, you knew exactly what you were saying!

Those lovely guys at BMW also changed the wiring harness colours and reversed the male and female plug ends between the ESA I and ESA II shocks. I mean, why wouldn't they if it makes fitting ESA II to an ESA I bike more difficult. So now I have to hunt down a wiring diagram so I can swap out the block connector! Well done BMW for making a simple job more complicated!

ESA2 is way better, find a 2010 or newer. Or buy the 2007 if you like the bike and put manual shocks on it, it's no big deal.
