The thing that’s so amazing about this scene (and what makes it so popular) is that it re-established Darth Vader as the force of nature he is. Up until now, we’d seen him get his shiny metal ass kicked all over the place by Jedi for a while, which made him seem kinda pathetic and overhyped. We were starting to think, “Why are people even scared of this overcooked, asthmatic chicken nugget with attitude problems?” Then we got this scene, and we were reminded exactly why he’s so feared. We got to see what Vader truly is to average Joes like us. A ruthless, sadistic, unstoppable, unnatural force of death and destruction.
