The energy absorber will start deploying at or below the specified average arresting force. Depending on the ANSI type it will be 900lbs or 1350lbs. The total energy dissipation will be determined by the weight of the worker and the length of the free fall. There’s no way to know the force without knowing those two numbers first. As long as the worker stays between the capacities of the energy absorber the worker should now experience more than the specified arresting force.

depends on the design. If the design engineer needs to bring down the loads, an energy absorber on the line can be used. Keep in mind this increases the clearance for the user. .

Think of the Grillon as more of a modified Grigri, lighter weight and more compact than an I'D or Rig. The Grigri has a spring that hold down the cam preventing it from engaging when belaying a rock climber; the Grillon on the other hand is a springless or (unsprung) version designed to grab much like the I'D or Rig. Other companies have used this method such as Mad Rock with their Lifeguard belay device, and Safeguard being an unsprung version of the Lifeguard
