So leaks are ONLY at OUTSIDE unit? Can leaked coolant gas circulate INSIDE my home? Because I am feeling sensation of being beside an indoor chlorine pool (respiratory symptoms and behind eyes marginal burning and lowered SpO2) and I don't know WHAT is CAUSING it! 😢😢😢 I do NOT SMELL chlorine or anything else but the effect is happening nonetheless.

What wiring diagram or scenario do you use with outdoor unit?I have one in my house in I have an issue with the humidity.
@richiefekecs
@richiefekecs Ай бұрын
Variable speed units usually have higher humidity in general vs single stage because they run at a lower capacity for majority of the time, pulling less moisture. If your humidity is consistently over 60% then you might want to look into a whole home dehumidifier that's hooked up to your duct work. I have the same unit branded as ACiQ.

I saw that video as well. I have a new carrier crossover heat pump that was installed this spring. Every time the heat pump runs, the electric panel and meter box buzz and the lights flicker. We’ve installed a new electric panel and rewired everything between the electric panel and the heat pump, but the issue still continues. Any thoughts?
@NelsonsHVAC
@NelsonsHVAC Ай бұрын
@@karennovoacamino4454 It's unusual for the new heat pump to cause buzzing and flickering lights, especially after installing a new electric panel and rewiring. This could indicate an issue with the power supply to your home or a potential problem with the heat pump itself. I recommend having a licensed HVAC technician perform a thorough inspection of the heat pump and its installation. If you'd like, we can arrange a service visit to diagnose and resolve this issue. Please contact us directly to schedule an appointment. We're here to help!

How about SOMEONE actually define what 'crossover' means! I go to carrier's site and all they do is tell you how great it is, without actually defining it. What makes it "crossover"? Jeeze!
@NelsonsHVAC
@NelsonsHVAC 9 ай бұрын
A Carrier crossover heat pump system is a hybrid HVAC system that combines the best features of ductless and traditional heat pump technology. It consists of an outdoor compressor unit and one or more indoor fan coil units. The outdoor compressor unit transfers heat between the refrigerant and the outside air, while the indoor fan coil units circulate the refrigerant throughout the home, providing heating and cooling. Carrier crossover heat pump systems are a good choice for customers who want the efficiency and flexibility of ductless heat pumps, but also need the power and performance of a traditional ducted system.
@tomharvey6961
@tomharvey6961 9 ай бұрын
So could one say "Carrier crossover systems are a great solution for people who want to convert to electric heating and cooling. You can keep your ducts, and replace your furnace with an air handler, and add a compressor outside the house. The compressor will send hot (or cold) fluid to the air handler, which conducts that heat to air blowing through the air handler, to the existing ductwork". Is that correct? Or am I missing something. If it is correct, why doesn't carrier (or anyone else) say that in simple terms (preferably better than mine)? In Califonia, there's a big push to get people to abandon all gas appliances, including furnaces. This seems to be the best way, but from the literature, you'd never know it. Thanks.@@NelsonsHVAC
@NelsonsHVAC
@NelsonsHVAC 9 ай бұрын
Your summary of the Carrier Crossover Heat Pump system is spot on. To add a bit more detail, the term "Crossover" refers to the outdoor mini-split style heat pump that has a side discharge. This design is distinct from the traditional unitary heat pump, which typically has a square appearance and discharges air upwards. You're right that there's a push in California, and in general most areas of the country, to shift away from gas appliances, and such systems can be an excellent solution for that transition. @tomharvey6961
@tomharvey6961
@tomharvey6961 9 ай бұрын
So "crossover" refers to the suitcase style, rather than the system? I really had no idea. I thought 'crossover' referred to a hybrid where you could have ducts, but not a furnace. I've heard it called "ducted ductless" and that's what I thought crossover meant. Learn something new every day!@@NelsonsHVAC

One crazy observation I've noticed as of late are the numerous insects that seem to be attracted to the vehicle. Not sure if there is some sort of electrical signal being emitted by the pickup that is resulting in these nuisance critters. I searched on Google and found a couple of other reports of insects being attracted to electric vehicles. I recognize that the summer brings the bugs out in droves, but didn't have this sort of experience in the gas powered SUV I drove previously.

Lightnings MSRP for XLT with 9.6kw generator starts at $71,990. A 10KW generator from Home Depot starts at $1,799 and would allow you to charge or drive your truck away. Yes, its convenient ( I was thinking about the hybrid for me) but the separate generator just makes more sense.

Still think Electric vehicles are a joke due to 3 things. 1.Lithium Batteries are more damaging and dangerous than gasoline fires as gasoline can be put out. Lithium batteries can't and can burn on and on and on. 2. The electrical infrastructure is not going to be able to handle so many electrical vehicles and there will be more blackouts as time goes on. 3. When it comes to heavy duty work. Batteries loose their range GREATLY We need an updated inrastructure and we need a new battery technology that doesn't degrade as badly as lithium, doesn't catch on fire, and can charge faster. There are examples of these in the labs but not finalized. Now I wouldn't mind having a Ford Lightning Battery pack on the home property away from the house (fire safety) though to act as a backup supply during outages for the home :P

We only had one of these units come defective from the manufacturer. However, we don't often install these sorts of packaged units. Probably have installed 20 of these units over the course of 4 years. So if you were to replace 40 of these units I would imagine you would likely encounter more than one lemon in the bunch. As a sidebar, I encountered a contractor who had replaced a bunch of these packaged units for a building and claimed that he was having a nightmare with warranty repairs. This was around the start of the pandemic so I don't know if quality may have declined at that time as suppliers were trying to rush out product to meet a demand they didn't expect to be there.

That equipment pad is not cheap. It is the equipment pad sold by Carrier for the Crossover systems. It is not 2" in height, but instead 3". The 3" height gives it more rigidity and durability against the weight of the machine. Moreover, those risers are Diversitech risers that aren't cheap either. We don't use cheap stuff nor do we use cheap tools. Our vacuum pumps are all NAVAC or FieldPiece vacuum pumps. Additionally, we torque all our Carrier Crossovers with NAVAC digital torque wrenches to ensure reliability in our flare connections.
