The scene in which the young man's angry about being told to leave infuriates me. The sheriff told the deputy that he'd handle it, and it appeared that, if the deputy had listened, it would've been fine. So why'd the deputy make sure the young man knew he wanted to shoot him? That deputy was not only an idiot but disobedient. He should've lost his badge for that.

You are hilarious. Yeah some actors needed editing to make them look good. Others did work hard at it. By the way, there were not any fast gun artists in the west by today’s standards. The holsters, if they wore one weren’t designed for it because almost no one fought face to face in a stand off. It was usually one person shooting another one from ambush. In the first scene, the actor did not fan the pistol. In those days most pistols were single action. You had to draw back the hammer before firing. as shone in the second scene

Doesn’t stop anyone from fanning. Fanning is just moving the hammer back with the off hand.
