the iceni chariots are bad , overall the army composition was bad (wasting money on giving XP chevrons to slingers instead of taking one more cav or sword unit was also not a great choice) . scythe chariots are better but even they are not too great since spaghetti lines were removed because they can no longer spread as wide and they deal less damage and are also easier to kill by skirmishers . some faction with access to elephants is much better choice if you want to field some shock unit to turn the battle in your favour . you must use it correctly though , don´t move them in until enemy main line is pinned down and his skirmishers chased or taken care of .

@@darkglobe406 usually they are pretty good against cav and going behind enemy lines but shock cav can counter chariots

@@JKStrategist depends on your opposition , but if you go up against semi decent player than chariots will usually fail , especially barbarian chariots ... the best way to deal with them are just 2-3 volleys of pilum or few shots from slingers ... too many units have pilum that is why chariots are tricky VS good players .

Good strat for ground battle send speed boi units into their spawn and bomb them or arty strike them or in the dlc BOMBARDMENT AVAILABLE many effective would recommend

in rome 2 best infantry units for frontline are phalanx or shieldwall formation units, best for flanking are shock infantry , best overall melee units are with javelins like thureos, karian axes, celtis warriors, hastati etc, spearmen without javelins or formations are worst infantry in game as shock cav will delete them like peasants Elephants and chariots can be stopped by any unit with phalanx or shieldwall units, if you have javelin inf behind shieldwall, they will delete elephants and chariots like flies against flamethrower fun fact, units in diciplined formation will perform worse than units with no diciplined formation, you can test this easily by using hoplites, one in diciplined formation will always loose, because non dicipline units will slowly flank the others and cause more dmg missle units = archers best in settlements, slingers best against cavalry, javelin/peltast units are usually useless if you can recruit thureos units

This is some pretty good advice!! I have never knew about the fun fact, I usually just like the disciplined ones just to have them catch cavalry or flanking units until I can get another unit to flank from behind!!

it is called "formation attack" , you want to turn it off on your sword and hoplite units pretty much always at the start of any online land batte. never put your swords in shield wall formation , it is useless and they get surrounded also . always put your hoplites in hoplite phalanx when they are in a prolonged melee .

@@darkglobe406 shieldwall formation is pretty good in online siege, your units will deal less dmg but they can hold ground far longer and against stronger enemies, which is specially important if you are defending a tower or a key street, also it blocks frontal charge of chariots and elephants

@@karl5175 im speaking of land battles not sieges ... sieges were considered dull back in the day . i see now they are popular , but OGs don´t play them too much . for siege you indeed need to use different tactics and also different army compositions , position your archers so that they shoot only at the non shielded side of your enemies troops etc. but sieges are boring and too long . also fast micro is pretty much not needed and that is the core skill of the best players . in land battles you can be great at tactics and army compositions but if your micro is slow or not on point you will lose ...

Vanilla Rome 2 has too many problems to use proper strategy, Rome 2 was mode to use the heaviest units against the heaviest units or spam missiles + artillery

Usually but I'm usually able to deal with heavier Infantry using this strategy since the hammer and anvil with shock infantry and shock calvary are really good for lowering morale.

on the contrary , ROME II rewards skilled players with good micro and good army compositions , also those who are able to think fast and adjust to enemy army and react to certain situations . there is a lot of tactics and skill involved . of course i´m speaking of online battles vs other players , needless to say any noob can beat the AI in campaign battles with little to none tactics involved .

It is a shame the only 2 videos on both space and land units for original game EAW , have the screaming audio meme crap , i wish the information was compacted as you present it but without the yelling. Im not a boomer, i get rhe humor, but it distracts and makes it harder to digest the information and compile it together with the other units Regardless thabks for picking this game to upload for, serious lack of content

Hey JK Strategist, can you pin this comment? I have a tip, do NOT, I repeat DO NOT shoot orbital resource pads. They are extremely powerful, having the capability to destroy multiple capital ships in a single blast. You can try using this as a way to take enemy capital ships, but you are basically doing a suicide attempt as you will also lose units in the process. I learned this through curiosity and paid the price.
