Roadside assistance works better .

Think this through--if you dont have a spare and you get a flat, roadside assistance isnt going to have a tire on board to get you going again. Your journey will be delayed and you're either going to have to get a flatbed tow or your car will be on the side of the road for an extended period. Having a spare gets you moving on your own even if you have roadside assistance install it for you.

Yes, they are the gold TRD wheel in 17 inch. I wanted more tire choices and with the 20's there were only a handful of Highway only choices.

Mazda claim that the 2.5 and 2.5 turbo engines are very well built to the point where there is little to no oil blow by. I also think they have a separator of some sort as well. Yeah I know a lot of Ford ecoboost BMWs are really bad for carbon build up. Mazda engineers also did alot of research on the seals to keep oil from leaking through causing blow by too.

The front vent outlet in the engine block includes a complex oil separator. The top vent outlet on the side of the engine nearest the firewall has no obvious separator.

A few errors in your presentation. First, only 5% of the total cones are in the fovea, a vast majority (almost 95%) are in the retinal periphery. There are NO rods in the fovea. The reason for excellent central vision (20/20) is from the high DENSITY of cones in the fovea and not because the total number of cones is high in the fovea.

A couple more comments regarding the catch can kit for the Mazda 2.5L Turbo. I recall the CorkSport guys noting that when you remove the OEM crankcase vent hoses you will find oil residue inside those hoses. So I looked for that during the installation process but found those hoses to be clean and dry on the inside. As I noted below, the drainage from the catch can on my CX-5 never displayed visible oil but an amber fluid that looked and acted like water. CorkSport on their site shows what was drained from a catch can on a Mazda ... yep, the same amber fluid ... no oil. I have a catch can on my Charger 6.4L Hemi. It has always caught oil. Yep, very dark brown to black oil, feels and smells like oil ... so that's good. I am reducing the amount of that stuff from getting to the intake. But the Mazda catch can produced no visible oil. So i tend to believe the extremely thorough engineers at Mazda have included a very effective oil separator on their 2.5L Turbo engines. Last, I am not knocking CorkSport. They treated me very graciously. Those guys are producing some neat products, and I do wish them every success in their endeavors.

Very interesting video. Thanks a bunch for posting it. My story: I purchased a new CX-5 w/ the 2.5LTurbo in April, 2021. Installed the Cork Sport Catch can within about a month. I noted that the installation process involved capping off the crankcase vent inlet port at the throttle body. More on this in a moment. Now my observations: 1. We soon noticed the strange odor. It would fill the garage overnight. I rigorously checked all hose clamps and fittings but could not find the source of the apparent vapor leak. 2. The catch can when drained always produced a slightly amber liquid (most likely condensed water vapor), no oil (which would have been on top). 3. While searching for the source of the smell I removed the plastic pan beneath the engine. Here I discovered a slight oil leak from the engine rear main seal. Bear in mind this is a new car, and this leak concerned me. Final Step: I removed the catch can kit and restored all the OEM hoses in the process uncapping that one blocked port. Result - within one day we noted the strange smell was gone. Drove the car for about 500 miles (still no smell) and then removed the pan below the engine. No rear main seal leak. Conclusions: (a) The catch can kit was the source of the leaked vapors leading to the strange smell. And (b) the catch can kit degraded the normal crankcase venting in some way thus causing the rear main seal leakage. Now the kit was still within its one year warranty, and CorkSport was kind enough to give me a refund when I returned the kit to them. Final thoughts - When you install a catch can from any aftermarket manufacturer, DO NOT block off any of the crankcase venting ports designed and installed by the builder of your car. Those engineers know your car's engine far better than any aftermarket company, and they have included those ports for a reason. Blocking one of those ports may seem a small thing, but I believe doing that caused the crankcase to be over-pressured in certain driving situations resulting in the rear main seal leak. Over-pressuring the crankcase could have serious long term consequences. You guys with 2.5L Turbos and this catch can kit just might want to check for that rear main seal leak.

Where did you have it mounted?
@BigMack392
@BigMack392 Жыл бұрын
The catch can was mounted on the left side in the space just in front of the left front wheel. The left front fender 'liner' must be partly removed to access this space. The drain valve could be reached from above inside the engine compartment. The drain tube was routed through the panel directly below this area. Very easy to drain . . . I liked that feature.

Great review. I actually just got my Optima charger you show here yesterday and I attached it to my vehicle today. It works FANTASTIC! You don't have to do anything other than hook the charger/maintainer up to your battery and choose what type you have (as you show here) and when you plug it in, it goes directly into "analyzing battery" mode and then after a minute or two it switches directly to "charging battery" mode , all automatically which is great. The OPTIMA is a fantastic value and without a doubt one of the best charger & maintainers on the market today for the money. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE OPTIMA.
