I used the same color paint as my wall. Before painting I tried to take all the crayon marks off and scrubbed, then I painted.

Are the drawers supposed to be wobbly before you add the backing on? I am not sure if I have gone wrong somewhere!

Hi, I made the frame of the dresser first then drawers and it was not wobbly when attached to it. And it's been over 7 months, dresser is pretty good and the drawers are smooth no problem so far.
