As a former Reserve Eagle Driver, darn best tactical aircraft in the world. Past, present, and future. Very capable of out-maneuvering the F22, MiG-57, and Su-30. Excellent for close-air-support. It'll remain in service till the B-52s, are officially retired. Just because it's an old airframe, does not mean it's obsolete.

I love the eagle, I'm very excited that there is a 21st Century plan for the airframe...but, come on, now - please don't do a cobra maneuver if it's going to look weak. Either get the tail out ahead of the nose and then recover or don't do it.

It's naive to think that they can't. The SU-30SM is significantly more maneuverable than what is shown in this demonstration.

I don't believe there are any gun upgrades on the Advanced Eagle - its weapons upgrades are in pylon capacity and new systems.

F110-GE-129 engines with 3-dimensional axisymmetric thrust vectoring? The F-15QA was developed for Qatar, apparently it's the predecessor of the F-15EX for the US Air Force. Impressive demonstration.
@dansffospottingandetc
@dansffospottingandetc Ай бұрын
That's the best part - there's no thrust vectoring! This is all in the thrust increase and upgraded avionics and fly-by-wire to manage the control surfaces. Incredible engineering!
@Hairysteed
@Hairysteed Ай бұрын
Thrust vectoring is kinda like variable-geometry wings: Added weight and maintainance for marginal gains that can otherwise simply be achieved with new fly-by-wire logic.

@dansffospottingandetc
@dansffospottingandetc Ай бұрын
The Eagle's howl is really underrated! I wonder if there are any changes to the intake design for these Advanced Eagles? The SA, QA, and EX all seem to have drastically more howl than the original F-15s, and I feel like it's more than just the new General Electric motors.

It took a lot of years to bring these 2 bombers back and the first one was at China Lake in the Mohave Desert just used for target practice until our CAF got a hold of this one and restored her to her glory and the rest is history on that one as for the other it is known as DOc after the snow white and the 7 dwarfs in a cartoon movie and like the other its all in history and it flies too.

The Y's were Vietnam Era? I love seeing any aircraft still flying after 60 plus years of service. It's a major hat tip to the engineers who designed them. I haven't been to a proper airshow in, too damn lomg. Love this channel.
@dansffospottingandetc

Your compliments are much appreciated! The Y model Hueys are really more of an upgrade package on existing air frames - new sensors and weapons, new engines, four blades instead of two, etc. So the Y's themselves haven't been around for too long (2001), but each airframe has definitely served for quite some time.

According to the pilots who fly the F-22, it's the most manoeuvrable fighter in existence. And according to those same pilots, its kinematic performance is the last thing they ever think about when using it in combat exercises. The Raptor doesn't have opponents, it has prey.

Where did you film the E-4 from? Is it public or on base?
@dansffospottingandetc
@dansffospottingandetc 3 ай бұрын
This was filmed from Huffman Prairie, a public park. There is an access road that goes right up to the fence by the airfield, which I tend to stay a little farther back from. Only issue I've had was security forces doesn't like you taking pictures/video of the base, but I they're not around (99% of the time), then there's no issue.

I was the first Wing Weather Officer for the KC-10 back in 82 and went on their first real world deployment. On way back we dropped off everything and everybody but me at Warner Robbins and due to impending crew rest limitations we took on just enough fuel to get from GA to Barksdale LA. We were at the end of the runway and I was upfront in the jump seat and the pilot said to the co--"lets see what this new **cker can do" and he threw the throttles forward and it was quite a takeoff. So much more power then the early model KC-135s they were used to.
