Nice! There is a mistake in the notes in bar 5 (in the book), the second riff starts after 3 (the F note), but that would probably make the sheet music too complicated to read. A really cool solo with many good ideas.

Excellent playing! Did you make the backing tracks yourself, or is it the originals? I've been looking for the backing tracks CD forever and they are not on John's site.

Thanks! I made the backing tracks in the BiaB program.

Awesome job. What i like about the book is that it is very musical, not just random jamming. Great phrasing.

Thank you for these videos. One query I have - your turn around at the end (A9, E9#, E7) is different than the book. Is this just an alternate turnaround? Thx

@Otapin6 ай бұрын
I used the Line 6 POD (version 2). Some of the sounds sounded quite realistic, almost like a tube amplifier.

If you are a complete beginner, the first thing you need is a good teacher. Do not rely on You Tube and any textbooks. You need feedback. This textbook is for beginners, but many beginners are lost without explanation.

Thank you for the backing track! I can play along to the full version what felt to be just fine, but playing along to just the backing track felt like taking the training wheels off. Was much jharder than expected.

You are using all the time third finger, can't we change it to the 4rth? I am a girl and my fingers are smaller
@Otapin Жыл бұрын
Sure! I sometimes use the 3rd finger and sometimes the 4th finger, it is good to learn to control both and use them according to the situation.

Hello Ota, I really like your playing, especially the solo part! How do you get that distorted sound? I'm a beginner with the guitar and I'm searching for a good pedal to get such sound. I have a Fender Blues Junior with Tube screamer, but that sound is not yet satisfying.
@Otapin Жыл бұрын
Hi Rainhard, thanks for your comment! I think I used a Xotic BB overdrive into the sound card. But it is possible that it was a different overdrive, or also an old Line 6 POD v.2. If you have a Fender Blues Junior, you have a great amp! You can use TS as a kick for the tubes of the amplifier, or also to kick another overdrive. There are many videos on You Tube that cover this. Personally, I use TS as follows: Gain at zero, volume at max. Vertex Ultraphonics overdrive and Mad Professor Sky Blue Overdrive are next in line. Gain between 11 and 2 o'clock. When I want a sound with more distortion and sustain that has more midrange frequencies, I'll use a TS to one of those two boxes. And don't forget that tube amplifiers start playing at higher gain/master volume. You need to experiment and find a way to the sound you hear in your head. Good luck!
@reinhard3294 Жыл бұрын
@@Otapin Thank you Ota for your explanations and advice! I would like to play with higher gain/master volume at the amp, but I'm afraid my neighbours wouldn't like that so much, especially at my current level of expertise 😀 I will continue practising ...

Thank you for providing these videos.Very helpful.I am stuck at present cannot get the bend on the b string eighth fret to sound right.Just practice I guess…Thank you
@Otapin Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Each bend of this song is one whole tone. It is better to practice this technique separately, in different positions of fingerboard. First, play both notes (=distance of 1 tone) consecutively without bending, learn to hear the desired pitch. And then try bending. A lot of patience, it will work!
