The process to be diagnosed by the VA and talking about our issues is difficult because it takes forever to get help.

Coast guard don’t get enough credit. You know how athletic you gotta be to make it? I’m not sure in todays day and age but when I joined the army I knew a couple dudes that were coast guard and the swimming and workouts they did in water, holy smokes.

I'm broken, But I still have the mental fortitude to soldier on. The VA does need to improve getting mental health services started. I have lost six friends in 10 years. If a vet is asking for help get them help today not an appointment in four months. If any vet reads this and is in crisis or on the edge go to your local VA hospital or clinic demand to speak with someone now. If they do not have someone on staff they have Ipads to do a telehealth on the spot.

VA did the same to me. Was on Opiates & Benzodiazepines for 6 years and then they cut me off cold turkey. My psychiatrist was called “Dr. Feelgood” at one point I was on 13 meds. I’m recovered 4 years now. VA pushed pills and now they give nothing no matter how bad you need them. His story is the story of 1000s of veterans.

Wow ! The V.A. really messed up ! I’m 65 and on Methadone been it for 14 years, and I was on the streets doing the same thing. Heroin does exactly what he the pain stops immediately . Anyway I hate our Veterans have to go through this, our country needs to do better for our veterans ! Hope he’s doing good and thank you for your service young man !
