Does anyone know the man’s name speaking and/or the poem he is reading?

“the astronaut” by t. a. smith from an unpublished manuscript.

@@user-bu6fg5bi7l Holy cow! Sir!! You have no idea how many years I’ve listened to this wanting to know the name of the piece and the poet. And here you are, the writer and speaker himself, answering me a year after my comment! (It took me over a year to even comment asking the name, because I never thought I stood a chance to find the correct person). I am in complete shock and awe right now. I cannot express how many years I’ve came to this KZbin video, and then found the clip again on Facebook one year. I must admit, I ripped the audio mp3 file from the video, and have listened to it on my iPhone hundreds of times. Your words have brought me comfort in some of the roughest periods in my life. I genuinely mean it when I say, there have been countless times I have repeated this poem as I fell asleep. The performance, the words, everything; it hits something primal in me, and comforts me. Every. Single. Line. Every. Single. Word. Means the world to me. It is beautiful. Thank you for your comment, I will be pleased to change the title in my iTunes from “Chatham Anonymous” to your name and the correct title of the poem. I hope life has treated you well, and if you ever find yourself in a rough spot, I hope the sentiment of knowing the impact your words have had on my life, will bring you as much peace and reassurance as your poem has given me. I am so grateful to have found this clip so long ago. From one ill fitting spacesuit astronaut to another, THANK YOU. When I carry too much for too long, your poem helps lift the weight. (That line itself has become a personal mantra I repeat to myself). I’m not even ashamed to be so excited right now, I’m ecstatic to know the creator and express my gratitude. Cheers, Kevin

haha well, i appreciate that-was kind of a shitty manuscript, to be honest, but been rethinking it lately. if anything comes of the collection, i’ll let you know. how are you connected to Word Circus/Chatham?
@user-bu6fg5bi7l3 жыл бұрын
also, sorry, just realized that your comment was longer than the “preview” haha. that was so kind of you to say-truly. didn’t know anyone found my work so motivating-that it brought so much inspiration. oddly enough, i had just been thinking about this piece today, and decided to look back on it, and that’s when I saw your comment. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’m not sure how to DM on youtube. Don’t normally communicate through this medium. But again, I greatly appreciate your kind words-it’s really lovely to know that someone out there has found such comfort in one of my poems. thank you :)

@@user-bu6fg5bi7l amazingly enough, I have no connection to Chatham or Word Circus. I like spoken word, and was listening to Anis Mojgani one day, and your video was in the KZbin suggestions on the side. I clicked on it by chance and was hooked. I’m not too sure how to DM on KZbin either, but I’m going to subscribe to your channel and will hopefully see any updates if something becomes of this piece. I would be glad to purchase a copy of it. Even if you don’t do a collection, I would still purchase a print of it to frame and display. Do you have some pieces published or online anywhere, where I can read more of your stuff, or is it more of a hobby/side interest for you?
