Wow, I'm going through something with Amazon and I think we need to gear up it is only going to get worse. AI answering with cut and paste emails and really really really poor customer service even it you can call it customer service.

I'm doing art books with photos so I am going with Lulu for printing, because they are printing on 80# coated paper Amazon is printing on 60# paper regardless of the color standard or premium uncoated. The quality of reproduction is night and day between these two papers. Art and photo books require coated paper for reproductions otherwise they look like cheap. Just saying it depends on what the book is about and what printing quality you need. Also with 3rd party printers you can still market on Amazon which is it's forte but they are no good when it comes to print quality.

Great information, after looking through the top 10 ISBN and Barcode sites I went to register and it stated "Must ne a US Citizens, Upon further research for Canadians, in Canada ISBN & barcodes are no charge and can be used internationally

Libraries and other stores order my books from Amazon KDP all the time and have done so for years.

I hear KDP has some new formats regarding book set up? Maybe you could do a new one according to there new process? Thanks

Hi Mandi, when I try to upload my A+ content, it uploads really blurry. I haven't tried the template with the dog that you used though. Any advice to unblur it? I used all the correct dimensions but it still comes out blurry.

I tried many programs for writing, but I ultimately stopped at LibreOffice Writer. Softwares like this are definetely cool and fun to play with, but I found them to slow me down because I get distracted by arranging all the characters, places, maps etc. instead of actually writing. When I want to write a book, I have everything figured out in my head anyways, and writing it down is wasting time for me. Of course, having notes is helpful, but I can have them in just another document or a notebook, and I don't need anything more. The only thing that kept me for a bit with Shaxpir, was that it automatically changes your book into a book format, and you can see how it will look at the end, but at the end I sticked to "keep it simple stupid" kind of software.

What would be the downside of purchasing 500 ISBN's and providing them to authors for $75? They would save 40%. Even at $50, publishing 11 books by other authors would cover the cost. Beside the paperwork involved of setting up the ISBN what other hassles would there be? - Thanks.

So you cannot order proofs on either Amazon or Ingramspark until your book is published? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of making last minute changes after looking at your book as a printed book, BEFORE it's published?

I used Atticus to format my ebook and print book. I loved the way everything turned out. Atticus has a great number of fonts and they recently added more fonts which is super cool! Thank you for this video, Mandi! After adding complex chapter headers in my ebook, I definitely see the problem it has. The whole reflowable ebook thing really makes it hard to add any fancy chapter headers or images. I'll probably avoid adding any chapter headers in my ebook in the future to save myself the headache.

I would love to have a couple of my books narrated but like you said, it is expensive plus two of my works need a younger voice. Some of the characters speak in old world language as well. I am wondering if the AI can express emotion (express an exclamation) if the words (He shouted) are not on the page. "Get out, now!"

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience and also showing the details of the whole process. First, I was supprised on your reaction because Amazon KDP has a 60% royalty, which equals to the 40% wholesale discount, so I didn't get the reason for the difference. Then, I run the calculation and I think what makes it different for KDP, that the printing cost for your specific book is almost a dollar (4.84 vs. 5.76) compared to Ingramspark. That is why with Amazon 60% royalty you recieve around 2.95 and with Ingramspark 40% royalty you receive only 1.9 dollars. I saw in an other video that Ingramspark has better quality (not sure that is true), maybe that can justify to rise the price to match their higher printing cost?

Just a quick question regarding the requirement by D2D for a different ISBN for print books that they distribute, is this different with their eBook distribution? That is, can I just have my one ISBN for my ebook that I put with AMAZON KDP and use the same ebook ISBN for all D2D distributors (minus Amazon with them)? Hope this question makes sense. Hi! can you add a paperbook on amazon then later go to ingram to upload that same book with the same isbn number to get better sales on Amazon when it is purchased on Amazon? Does it have to be at the same time or can I do the amazon first and then weeks later (or months) add the same book to ingram and have it work out? Thanks!
