Messmer's attacks are very jumpable. You can jump the sweep and maybe even the thrust that travels across the ground.

I personally find it one of the easiest to deflect. just double tap deflect after the flash of light disappears.

if u have trouble with it like i did and you play on pc with a controller, try overclocking your controller response time to 1ms (on default its 5ms) now i can deflect the ashina cross every single time
