I wish these were my parents ,these parents actually cared about their son.

What's important here is that his parents understood, respected and supported his decisions. Something 95% of us never got the chance to experience.

This is the best "coming of age" movie ever. So good, and so overlooked, just like the Gen X kids it's about. lol. I love the scene where Steve-o's dad comes to pick him up for lunch, driving a Porsche. lol. RIP Bob tho :( Trendy ass posers.

This film never got the credit it deserved. As a mid 80's punk that watched it all blow up in my face, it's a an anthem to the fact that the absurdity of life isn't a call to to end it but a call to rebel against it. Even if you will lose.

"They're not going to get this in New York..." It's such a good line considering how significant the punk scene was in New York, especially compared to 1980s UTAH lmao

"I didn't sell out, I bought in" is arguably the most important line in the entire film.

One of the reasons I love this movie is because it shows me that when you were younger, you have immature, thoughts and beliefs about certain things, it’s not until you reach a certain age where you’re like. Oh yeah, I totally got to get my shit together and fix everything and make everything better just like he does in the movie, parents want what is best for their kids, that’s why his parents never shamed him or treated him like an outcast for the way he was addressed, and then he had some real bad shit happen to him like people usually do in life, and then he decided to change it and for the better more or less that’s why I love this movie, because I lived a very crazy lifestyle for the past like six years and I’m 24, I just had a couple friends pass away the last couple years and it’s really should be nothing more that I gotta get my shit together and be responsible not be an imbecile just like he does at the end of the movie!

Oh yeah, I totally got to get my shit together and fix everything and make everything better just like he does in the movie, parents want what is best for their kids, that’s why his parents never shamed him or treated him like an outcast for the way he was dressed or acted, and then he had some real bad shit happen to him like people usually do in life, and then he decided to change it and for the better more or less that’s why I love this movie, because I lived a very crazy lifestyle for the past like six years and I’m 24, I just had a couple friends pass away the last couple years and it really should be nothing more that I gotta get my shit together and be responsible not be an imbecile just like he does at the end of the movie! I understand that not everybody has parents, but you can’t use that as an excuse, just be the best person you can be. If you are a bad person that does crappy things to people, the chance of good things happening to you are less than none but if you’re a good person, being good, helping people, not being an asshole, you will get far in this life. They say the good die Young but I say, I think they die because they just didn’t get where they needed to be to change things around where or when they needed too most!

Nah, it's all part of being a parent to a teenager. I expect this kind of stuff with mine. Can't do nothing but accept their individuality. It's a good thing. Respect their self confidence. They'll find their way. Always be there for support ❤

I love the juxtaposition lol. He's trying to rationalize his sons persona while Mathew Lillard just laughs and completely dismantles everything his dad just said.

I never realized this before but Steve’s jacket is probably undersized cause he made it in high school and outgrew it, it would also explain why he doesn’t have it later (I know they’re a million different ways to lose a jacket but I personally always wondered why he has that only in this scene)

He also toned down his punk style. Kind of like how his father suggested.
