Great video and explanation. I noticed the product is called aqua sure and you kept mentioning aquaseal? Are they called by different names say where you are located and the states? Also, I use aqua seal to repair my kite bladders and wet suits too, but I will cover the seam areas with clear tape to create a smooth finish so there is less abrasion. Thanks for posting.

I wonder how long it will last, wave paddling. Your accent is not quite Irish, or am I wrong. Keep up the good work Una!

Doesn't this affect the performance of the paddle? I thought carbon paddles have very thin edges to make them cut smoothly through the water. Maybe one should get a different and less sensitive blade construction for paddling near rocks (e.g. aluminum / plastic).

Yes, it definitely does, but it's a matter of scarification! if you paddle in rock-free water or for a race, no but if you go in the river or paddle in rocky water, definitely worth it.

This is so cool! I love that you chose to read my poem for this video! I'm a keen paddle boarder myself so this has made my day :)

useful! thanks. we have lots of rocks on our lake here in eastern canada so i will try this.

Ah good luck with it Frieda! I find if I'm using it near rocks, the tape generally wears out quicker so you may need to replace it more often. Of course avoiding hitting the rocks is best, but the tape does help.

My carbon paddle have a protecting rubber list glued on, and stil the ~1/5th of the blade are cracking up and are now worryingly soft. I need to reinforce with some glass fiber and epoxy. So I would advice to stay away from the thinner /light weight blades around rocks and probably even medium weight blades if paddling in creaks or other kind of moving waters. Im now looking for some kind of thicker protective rubber list that can diverse the forces better when poling and pushing against rocks in case someone have any suggestions?
