"The SEC eats it's own". Uh, NO! Not when Alabama and Ole Miss are LOSING to 1-5 Oklahoma and Auburn in the conference standings. When Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Tenn.,Ole Miss, A&M, and LSU play each other? That's eating your own. But losing to the cellar dwellers? We all know Michigan isn't very good. But they laid 50 points on one of their bottom teams on Saturday.

Reminds me of 2005 at THE ohio state where Zook originally wanted to punt, then called TO after Juice convinced him he'd get the 1st down and put the Offense back out

Melvin Priestly, almost single-handedly took us out of our offense early in the first half with 4 penalties.. After that being a huge problem last year at Grambling, he seemed to have corrected that. The personal foul penalty was silly and really hurt. Same for Gabe Jacas in the second half. We stop them in third and long and he gives them a first down and they go on to score. Imo, those kinds of penalties are nothing short of selfish. They need correcting. Our outside rushers need to understand when they have contain responsibility. They take themselves out of way too many plays. I thought the inside linebackers really showed up and kudos to Altmeyer, Bryant, and OC Barry Lunney for hanging tough. Hank Beatty has turned into a real difference maker. He is clearly the Big Ten first team punt returner.

Brandon Lloyd is the guy, and it’s not close. Bryant a hell of a player though.

David Williams is #1. I'd lean towards Benn as #2 for my eyes.

@ Lloyd had the speed, acrobatics and hands, was easily most talented and he continued that in the pros. Williams was a system guy, Benn could never stay healthy.

@@markwalters6964 Williams was a CFL Hall of Famer. He was more than a "systems guy". Benn was not very durable for a guy who looked so intimidating. But I'm not telling him that.

@ watch the highlight reels of Lloyd and Williams, it’s not close talent wise. Lloyd was an all pro, Williams got cut. He was a system guy, doesn’t mean he wasn’t great, just wasn’t equivalent talent wise of Lloyd. Lloyd had wow catch after wow catch. One of the top 5 athletes in Illinois history.

This season Illinois is shooting .487 from the field while shooting .293 from the three. .587 from the two! Uncontested jumpers from the two, taken by players who make them at a high level, is underrated. It also helps avoid long scoreless stretches where you end up playing from a major deficit. Fun fact from this game: Kendall Bostic made 15 of 18 shots. Two of her misses were from three. She is shooting 75% from the two this year while averaging her standard 10 boards a game. She is killing it.

I think this could be a great game, but not scarey. I think the Illini have some confidence back now that injuries are on the mend. I think Bret Bielema wants this game bad. His demeanor this week seemed to be very intense and wanting to get this game going.

I wasn't happy with the loss to Minnesota. At the same time, they are a bowl team. I think they caught the Illini at the right time. A team is going to have losses to evenly matched teams. That's just sports.

Past team's had summer European trips that allowed week's of summer practice or we're returning players with familiarity on each other's game this team didn't even know each other's name until school started. This year will have a Longer growing together period

Once they guys get used to playing together, which they are already, they will be tough to beat. Playing the number of guys that Underwood can, they are going to wear teams down. And can these guys shoot, this may be the best shooting team Illinois has ever had. These guys, barring major injuries, are going to give Illini fans a lot to cheer about. Go Illini.

Gophers fan here. I was genuinely worried about this game, however our new quarterback Brosmer as made a huge difference for us this season. Without him I believe Illinois would have won. The team is definitely on a roll!

Turnovers have been a serious problem throughout Brad's era. Love Brad, but encouraging fights in practice ? Nahhhhh Coach. If they happen, they happen, but encouraging ? STUPIDO.

Agree that the Illini were dominated on both sides of the line... We're very thin on the lines, and with injuries we're even thinner... Not enough depth for sure.... But we are better under coach B and staff, than we have been for the past 3 or 4 decades... so things are looking up... IMHO
