i have a question can u change the fork later on that bike or is it fixed because i wanted to buy that bike and i dont like coil forks idc about the rear but the fork is my problem just tell me because i mostly like air forks because they can be adjusted
@basicmtb6 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, I do change the fork later on to a Rockshox air fork. However, you are somewhat limited with the straight steerer tube. Most high-end forks use tapered steerers.

A few years ago when I made these videos and bike prices were crazy high, I’d say yes. However, now, I don’t think so. Bike prices have come down and there are more entry level options. Check out Polygon bikes (bikesonline.com). They’re a good value for money. You’d spend about the same upgrading the Hyper but the Polygon frames are better.

polygon frames go for too much man this bike is cheaper than a polygon frame

Thank you so much for making all these videos, I’ve been doing so much research on a beginner mtb and there is so many to choose from also just don’t have the bucks to spend on a expensive one. I’ve definitely made my choice on picking up the hyper explorer because of your videos. I just want to start building it to withstand anything I give it and also learn! Hope you come back and making videos again!

The shock is ok for beginner riders but I rode my for about 2,000 miles and the rebound completely broke, it was like a pogo stick. Then, I got another of the same one rode it for like 30 miles and it got completely sucked in.
@basicmtb5 ай бұрын
You aren’t wrong. My entire channel is devoted to not spending thousands on a bike. That said, you get what you pay for. Is a $600 Fox better? For sure. Is it 3x better? Debatable. Is it necessary for a beginner to have fun? Absolutely not. That shock should last way more than 2k miles with proper servicing. At a minimum, I clean my stanchions before every ride. However, 30 miles is clearly a defect and should be warrantied/returned.

Is there another video on this
@basicmtb7 ай бұрын
Sorry, no. Growing family so I don’t have the time to put into KZbin anymore. Tho I will answer questions here or on Insta. I’ll say the air fork is a massive improvement over the stock fork. Mostly due to the stiffness - I could feel the stock fork flexing under hard braking… sketchy. The new fork is decent. Obviously not as good as a $1000 Fox or RockShox but it’s fine for 99% of simple trail riding. I wouldn’t jump more than 3ft, but this frame really shouldn’t be jumping anyway. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of good options for straight steerer tubes so this is about as good as it gets.

Do you have a suggestion on how to release the front forks? - my bike tech said he thought they were fake suspension forks because they wouldn’t move, no bounce. I just bought the same bike and I had him run through it after I broke it in on the trail; I noticed the forks weren’t moving, no bounce, and it was wobbly in the rims.
@basicmtb10 ай бұрын
I haven’t tried to take the fork apart. They use a basic coil without a damper so I’d guess they aren’t designed to be serviceable. You might be able to pry off a cap on the top or bottom to expose a nut/bolt for disassembly. I’d try adding some silicone lube to the stations to see if they are stuck. Probably isn’t worth the money to have a mechanic work on those forks. Either return the bike or buy a new fork (I have a video on that too). A Rock Shox Judy is around $200 ( amzn.to/3McQRCi ) which is the same as a few hours from a decent mechanic. The wobbly wheels - my front wheel was badly out of true. Fairly easy to fix by adjusting spike tension. Hope this help. Let me know what happens!

I have a sennilox and a Laurasilva, I got the sennilox because laurasilva only had 1 style I like the other is like the " non office friendly" but with serrations, I hate blades like that with serratio s. Its a waste of blade space imo. Im sure the same comlany makes them just rebranded, I wish I could find the original manufactures, tbese are very nice carbon fiber, very light, and Id wager to say the blade is D2, of all my knives these 2 I can get razor sharp no problem, and they hold that edge through some very heavy use. If anyone knkws or fi ds the original manufacture please let me know. Thanks for the video.

Interesting to see that the Canadian version of the Hyper Viking Pro 27.5 comes with quick release axels (upgrade over the Explorer). I like to put the pressure values (PSI) aligned to the valve. I noticed you didn't mention the direction of the tire before seating it on the rim (something to check first). Interesting choice of colour for the pedals :p

So what IS the difference between a 4 hundred dollar and a 4 thousand dollar bike ?
@basicmtb Жыл бұрын
Simply put - performance. Just like Ford and a Lamborghini will both get you where you’re going, but one will do it faster/smoother/etc. The biggest difference is the suspension; a cheap, undamped coil spring vs an air fork/shock is a pogo-stick vs Bentley.

You talked me into this one! Was looking at it and was wondering about it. It should arrive tomorrow and looking forward to that. Liked your review, and one way or other, it appears to be a nice blade at the price and an addition to the collection. Thanks! UPDATE: Received it. Nice little blade. The carbon fiber is slick, so whether it’s CF or real fiber it’s hard to tell and I really don’t care at this price…looks good. You do get a 3D effect when turning the knife. The action is nice..mine has a strong detent even after a little oil was added, but maybe in time it’ll break in some. If not one can always hyper extend the liner lock, but time’ll tell. Super sharp blade and I’m very pleased. Happy I found your review. Thanks!😃👀

You should always turn/torque screw side, otherwise you are actually turning axle itself which is not the worst thing but that may give wrong torque number.
