I saw this in the UK when released in 1983. What was a shock (I heard many people remark on it leaving the cinema) was Lewis's 'real' voice (in retrospect, like some hard nut from The Sopranos). Because we didn't get the charity or variety shows he did etc, we only knew his 'movie voice'.

I would have been yelling at him in his face to straight up get out of my house and don't come back. Boo hoo hoo poor Grimes, little bit of news for him. Life sucks and no one cares get a helmet.

Frank Grimes is the view any of us would have if we were magically transported to The Simpsons world. Alot of episodes the show makes it seem like the Simpsons are poor and their house is a dump. But when you really look at it they have a beautiful home, perfect little family, 2 cars and Homer is the only one who works ? How is this possible ? Well, it's a cartoon. It also shows how life is all about perspective, Grimes is jealous of Homers life, but the idea of living between two bowling alleys sounds amazing to Homer Lol. But don't ask me how the economy works.

It's funny yet sad. He revealed later in the movie his mother lost a child before he was born and she overcompensated by feeding him like that.

Jerry could have had him drug by police and thrown into the back of a squad car, but he didn't. Might have saved his life later in the movie lol

Grimes working for a boss that ignores him while rewarding incompetence, yet he blames his fellow worker instead of the man in charge of the system. After literally watching Mr. Burns hire a dog he saw on TV...
Actually, Frank is what’s wrong with America. He puts value on material things and achievements, whereas Homer values his family, friends, and beer.

2:21 - Actually if you want to get philosophical, Homer is successful because he's always been part of a community with friends and loved ones who look out for him whereas Frank is unsuccessful because he's an atomized individual who almost valorizes his isolation and struggle.

Grimes highlights the issues with corporate America, making people work longer hours for lower wages while corporations and shareholders reap the profits. Not saying Homer is part of the upper class but it’s the really wealthy that reap off inherited wealth, property or assets.

Grimes is technically right but that doesn't give him the right to be so judgy to Homer. I mean, if he was less butthurt of what other people have, he would've eaten lobster that night
