Did you upgrade your people from the previous video?
@video36Ай бұрын
yeah! You noticed. I recently realized I was getting confused on these models, and the free version prevented me from tapping into the warehouse for new models. So I made my own warehouse of parts I paste into these. While I was at it I made more interesting people to post around town.

I know right. Its crazy when you see it. First thing I thought, imagine a dwarf l who is about to enter the woods for a hunt or to travel to the next town only to realize he forgot his keys. He has to walk all the way up. I added the railing to this model which makes a bit more sense.

Ive messed with blender a bit and its a tough learning curve. Sketchup is super easy and I have tons of saved models I can use. To be honest, I do these mostly to get the illustrations correct so I cant afford to spend too much time. To do this right id probably need a time to work on it.

Wonderful work! Can you speak to your process and software used to create these. I'm playing with Reality Kit on MacOS and iOS and have made a few building walk throughs, I have been a Harniac since the 80's and now that I'm retired breaking out the gear and building a new adventure along the Genin Trail. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
@video36 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Well, Im using Sketchup. An older free version. I have to say, I do these just so I can make sure I get the illustrations correct and all the perspectives and proportions correct. Its nice to move around in the world before picking a view. You can drop the floorplans and maps into sketchup, scale them, and then I trace all the elevation lines and build the landscape first. Then I start dropping in generic houses and trees, scale them as needed. Sketchup is nice as you can just make a block and then pull it to the desired height. Its pretty intuitive and easy to use. Lots of youtube videos on it. I generally do a bit more work than I actually need just cause I like making these videos for myself and the fans.

Is the scale of the arena correct, or should it be dug down into the ground some? Seems like some rather convenient high ground towering over the defensive walls like it does.
@video36 Жыл бұрын
Well, I have to admit, I just plopped something there as a placeholder. As the arena has not been in any illustration Ive had to do yet, I did not really get too specific. The acreage is correct, but I can speak on the height. Guessing it is a tad too high.

Yeah, in the illustration I drew some feeble attempts by the Ilvirans to prevent more erosion. Thanks for the comment. This one really helped, I had a simpler temple, but found a Romanesque church I liked better. I had the octagon tower, which showed more of its history as a former Agrikan Temple.

Oh, Parnan! The taxes are so heavy in Shiran for goods coming in over the bridge that my ship's crew started to pull into Parnan and sell their cargoes of Lake Benath sturgeon and other luxury goods there, to bring them into town from the north. With some creative accountancy, there was a brisk trade at Parnan till the Mangai caught on and started sending enforcers up north. That's where the PCs come in, basically to make the Mangai think again ...
