Do you know what model spark plugs you need for that motor? I need to do mine and I have an 07 225 mercury optima max on the same boat.

NGK model IZFR6J gapped at 0.32-0.33” is the spec. Be prepared for some sticker shock if this is your first time buying, they run $15-$20 each
@LJMOutdoors119 күн бұрын
Correction, I grabbed the ProXS spark plug model. The ones on my boat are IZFR5G. That’s the recommended one for all standard Optimaxes. Sorry about that.

It’s hit and miss. Typically pretty strong in events with more historical data like the last 2 will have. I’ve tweaked it a couple times this season to account for some things I noticed. I haven’t kept up with the scoring total but I’ll add that up tomorrow and let you know.
@LJMOutdoors13 ай бұрын
Currently it would have 8058 points, sitting in 41st place out of 255 in the LJM Outdoors group. Completely bombed at Toledo Bend (587 points) in the first event of the season where some of the factors that it looks at didn’t have any/enough information. Since then it has averaged 1067 points per tournament with a high of 1255 at Harris and low of 863 at Smith.

Thanks for this video. Quick question. I've been told that my issues are likely to a faulty solenoid on the trim motor. I have a similar motor as yours. Can you point me to where to find that? thanks!
@LJMOutdoors13 ай бұрын
If memory serves(it usually doesn’t) inside the cowling on the port side of the motor. My model has 2 relays which are often the culprit on trim issues. Do you have movement in one direction or neither?
@chadsmith36633 ай бұрын
@@LJMOutdoors1 thanks! I was able to open it up. I get intermittent movement. Sometimes both work and other times neither work. I think it almost all or nothing. Last summer the tilt motor sounded weaker but always worked. This season is when it completely stops working but 10 minutes later works again.
@LJMOutdoors13 ай бұрын
@chadsmith3663 I would have to look at mine, but I believe there are 2 connectors where the trim motor meets the controls inside the cowling. I would unhook and connect those directly to power and verify your trim motor is working properly. You should be able to connect directly to power and see it working Up or down and then swap polarity admins it will go the other way. Based on what you’re describing, solenoid does sound likely, I would just verify the trim motor works before I started chasing those parts since it’s an easy test.

I have question for u my mercury outboard 125 2000 when water came over the back the trim went up all the and stayed to I disconnect battery and hour later it work 😑 any help would be appreciated sir
@LJMOutdoors15 ай бұрын
I’m not familiar with that specific motor, my best guess would be you got a bit of water in your trim switch on the motor and it made enough of a connection to activate. Either that or you somehow got enough water inside the motor and into the trim relay to short it. I would definitely lean toward the trim switch on the motor though.

If you leave the cap off and go up and down the air can come out.
@claydonrichardson42986 ай бұрын
Thanks good information, but do i have to leave screw out so air can escape when lifting and lowering ?
@LJMOutdoors15 ай бұрын
Tilt systems are self bleeding so you don’t need to leave the screw out. You may need to add a little more fluid after you cycle it a few times though.
@saramahood32195 ай бұрын
What happens if I take that fill cap off and fluid is gushing out? Did the last guy over fill this thing or is there another problem? It was showing signs of a leak around the actuator shaft seal.
@LJMOutdoors15 ай бұрын
@saramahood3219 Probably just a difference in level of the ground boat when it was filled last. The more the nose is tilted down, the more you will be able to put in (to a point). I would t be overly concerned about that, some came out of mine when I opened it up too. If you have a leak, you could also have some air in the system that needs purged too.

That feeder is a great starter feeder. In all honesty, its about a 4 outta 10. The feed gets wet. The motor is junk and it only lasts two seasons at best. It has it's place but if you're serious about pond growth... that feeder will get you started but be prepared to spend again.
@LJMOutdoors17 ай бұрын
Yeah with a pond the size of that one I wasn’t going to pony up for a Texas Hunter or anything like that. We just moved to a place with a much bigger one so we’ll see. I’ll probably run that one until it craps out and then upgrade.
