Civ 4 was my introduction to civilization. I had an old MacBook hand me down and I wanted to play games on it. Civ 4 had been ported over and was probably the best running game on that MacBook and i remember playing for countless hours.

I find barbarians are so annoying and slow my game down so much I have been playing without them lately. Is this a bad thing, or OK? A guess for a science victory it's fine?

I still prefer Civ 4. I tried Civ 5 with all dlc, and considered it dumbed down. Also disliked the 1 unit per tile traffic jams. Didn't bother to try Civ 6 due to all the negative reviews at the time. The ultimate Civ experience is Civ 4 with the gigantic Caveman2Cosmos mod. 1000 techs, hundreds of unit types, thousands of buildings, hundreds of wonders, and many new game mechanics.

Civ 6 gathering storm is the best DLC so far. But, constant game breaking bugs and crashes made the game almost unplayable.

I use trader mostly for domestic route. Because, i want newly settled cities grow faster. I switched to states trade route when my gold is very low.

I never liked the idea of doing rerolls from bad starts. Part of each game is figuring out how to maximize the land that you’ve been given to start. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don’t. Ruins the fun if you just play with a god start each game.

civ 5 mods are fantastic as well, playing with really small unit models, but increasing the number of models per squad, actually makes armies clashing look way better
