I too noticed this inflow of the wakes from some large ships. I think the breakwater islands may be a workable solution.

how about just creating a deep water island port about 2 to 3 miles off shore, with a tunnel connecting, where ships can pull in, load and unload and depart in deep water, without having to get close to shore and shallow water? All around the world, people are now seeing how much damage these large water displacement ships moving thru shallow waters create a lot of damage to local environments. Bigger is not always better.

Smaller isn't always any better, not always. With smaller ships and boats there's firstly more traffic. Secondly there would be smaller but more wave action.

That would be 100 times more expensive than just putting in a breakwater. And that doesn't even address the infrastructure and residual costs needed to offload a ship, put containers on short haul trucks then taking off those containers once again to offload in the original docks.

Do you have any idea how expensive a tunnel would be?

Send an idea over to Camella Harris she'll love it... Work in electric busses to it and it's sold

I agree! I drove my car down it yesterday evening and was thankful to come out the other side. My husband and I came down from central OK to see how things are going a year post Harvey, we’re still here now as I’m commenting, I have to say I am really impressed overall, I do wish my map app would update though😂! I say all that to say, I’m more thankful for the community coming together than I am upset I’ve had to drive slower around obstacles like this one❤️!!!

June 10, 2016 - For the past several weeks, the City's Water Department has been continually flushing water out of an automatic flushing fire hydrant on the north end of North Beach. The resulting flooding is hampering access to a popular beach park, Dolphin Park, during the first big push of summer. The hydrant has been going like this since the Water Boil first started last month.
