Brian Cox SLAMS Joaquin Phoenix: "It Really is Appalling" kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPZhaebeMySm7M

These are all films where the story and, in most cases actually good acting, carried the viewer along. I would daresay, if a director could be trusted to make a like for like version, the would all be just as good now. Don't change anything, just use modern CGI and sets/SFX/Sound.

This is a ridiculously condescending idea for a list. Name Silent Running if you are not a pointless hack. I mean...

Remember this his opinion, not mine for sure. The Searchers, My Darling Clemintine, True Grit, The Man Who shot Liberty Valence, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Tombstone, Silverado, The Three God Fathers, Shane...are a few of my favorites. Shoot, I can Have a top ten list with just John Wayn and Clint Eastwood.

I saw Silent Running when it came out in the theaters. Great film, Bruce Dern was terrific. Great realistic-looking sets and practical effects that still hold up today. And loved those robots! (R.I.P. Dewey)

The Lone Ranger from 2013 was nothing more than a 2 and a half hour obstacle course of cinematic horse turds. It was crap.

It could have also worked. I'm a huge fan of Henriksen. But I understand why they chose Arnold. And I think it worked better with him.

Soylent Green is almost real, given the chemical crap all people outside the 1% "elite" are forced to eat. In 2032 its real real. Awesome call back in 1976. Its practically a documentary

70's was a great era for sci-fi, with: Alien, Silent Running, The Black Hole, Omega Man, Soylent Green, Logan's Run, Colossus: The Forbin Project, Solaris, Battlestar Galactica: Saga of a Star World, Star Trek: TMP, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Andromeda Strain, Stalker, Demon Seed, ....

Dishonorable Mention: The Patriot. Mel Gibson's movie about the Revolutionary War showed the British Army more like the Nazis than the actual British Army.

You know a movie is bad when even the President of the United States, who was a General during the war, pulls it apart.

Logan's Run is one of my favorite movies of the 70's that is barring. of course, Star Wars. Alien I believe is an 80s film, albeit very early 80's.

"The Hitcher" - not a horror movie, and really not that good. "The Mist" - I can see why Steve wants us to watch this one. ;-) Overall good adaptation, but I don't care for Darabont's ending, even though he's pretty much the only director who's ever done King justice. I much prefer the novella's open ending that leaves the fate of the protagonists up to the reader's imagination. "The Strangers" - not a horror movie, and home invasion flicks aren't my cuppa. Loosely ( *_very_* loosely ) based on the real-life 1981 Keddie, California "cabin 28" murders. If you aren't familiar with the case, Google it. It positively reeks of corruption and cover-ups. "The Blair Witch Project" - one of the most boring, pointless movies I've ever sat through. Over-hyped and overrated. I know a lot of people love it, but I'm afraid I'm not one of them. "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" - Certainly not bad, but not great either. "Deep Blue Sea" - silly, formulaic "man should not presume to play God" story. Essentially "Jurassic Park" with sharks, but not nearly as good. LL Cool J's rap over the closing credits is embarrassingly bad even for rap. "Crimson Peak" - not really into period pieces, but it's a decent ghost story. "The Changeling" - a classic ghost story. Truly chilling. If I had to pick one movie from this list to recommend to others, it would be this one. "Final Destination" - silly premise, not very well done. "The Witch" - OK period thriller. Nothing to get excited about. "Les Diaboliques" - haven't seen this one, so no comment. "The Last House on the Left" - again, not a horror movie, but rather a violent revenge melodrama. The original is a bit rough around the edges, but IMHO, that suits the story better than the more polished look and feel of the remake. It adds a touch of realism the remake lacks.

My roommate and I enjoyed "The Marvels" and while "Black Adam" was just meh, I really think a sequel would have done awesome if it was Black Adam vs. Superman. Personally I thought "Green Lantern" and " Shazam: Fury of the gods" were okay for what it was.

Now I never did know that Christopher Plummer starred in a film called Starcrash. And he named Sound of Music as the one he hated? I think he was being very smart there. Direct the folks to Sound of Music and they might never know about Starcrash. It worked for me - nice move Christopher.
