This is NOT a Double Carrick Bend! This is a Double fault! 1. fault: This bend is called "Full Carrick Bend". A Double Carrick Bend does not exist in ABOK! 2. fault: the both standing parts should be placed diagonal and not be on the same side! In ABOK (The Ashley Book of Knots) Ashley has noted on page 273 the following: 19.6 Carrick Bend, both ends on same side of knot (#1428) 70.8 Carrick Bend, with diagonal pull (#1439) The left column gives the average number of jerks necessary to make a knot of each kind spill. Both knots, #1428 and #1439, are called Full Carrick Bend in ABOK.

Lol, never thought about it. Made this For a maritime knot workshop on a cruise ship. The other videos of knots I made got 20 to 25 views and I have no idea why this one has 2.5 million . It's a mystery. I don't pay much attention to it.

How long should the piece of rope be?
@mchlholly Жыл бұрын
I really don't know! There are many people who comment that it should not be used as actual lead or reigns for a horse as it may hurt their mouth. I use it as an ornamental knot on the end of a lanyard for keys or a whistle . Because it starts with 2 loops you can do it anywhere within a rope Not just at 1 end.

I turned on the video. Started to watch. Got a little bored. Went to the kitchen. Turned on the light. Leaned against the counter. Folded my arms. Had a moment of silence to decide what I was going to snack on. Made my decision. Took out some bread. Put it in the toaster. Made toast. Grabbed a paper plate. Took the toast out of the toaster. Placed it on the paper plate. Got a butter knife out of the drawer. Actually buttered the toast. Dropped the butter knife off at the sink. Got a glass out of the cupboard. Poured me my usual glass of milk. Grabbed a napkin. Turned out the kitchen light Came back out here to CONTINUE the video (as I never hit pause). Realized I forgot to put cinnamon on my toast. Returned to the kitchen with toast. Turned on the light. Sprinkled toast with cinnamon. Turned off the kitchen light. Made my final trip back out here to finish the video. Hit the skip ad button. And FINALLY finished the video on how to tie an Indian Bridle knot. I'm Exhausted!!! Think I'll go take a nap. Thanks for the brief and informative video.

Never put the loop at the top of this knot in an animal's mouth. An indian bridle, or hackamore, is attached to a knot or loop under the chin, then the long loose ends are used as reins. Nothing goes in the horse's mouth.

what would you use this for?
@mchlholly3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, I use it as a loop on the end of a lanyard to hold a whistle or keys. I use it mostly because it has a good design. The name implies that it was used by native people' as a bridle for their horses but quite a few people have said it would be damaging to the horse!
@astralhorses95593 жыл бұрын
@@mchlholly this knot was used in the process of making "war"/"ghost" bridles by various Native tribes, but wasn't the finished bridle [it would be used to cinch down the mouth-loop, not go in the mouth itself.] from what I've seen, most modern versions tend to replace it with a rawhide bead: westernhorseman.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/0042.jpg

This knot is from english postworkers. History of this knot old. ( sorry my english ). When people was working on fields they do this knot on winesacks ( made skin ) that they can carry healthy drinkingw(ine) ater . After that english post take it to close their postsacks. I,m half from norway and rest from finland. Old peeple teach this knot when i was young ( now i’m halfblind ). Bella knot but maybe it is much easier way to do it .....
