You are the 1st one to fully show the Kimberly excursion experience on a luxury train trip & bcoz of that I'm sold. Will definitely consider the Blue Train. Thanks for the content. Was it really only two nights?😅 Felt like you were on a 3 night trip😅
@johan_scheepers22 күн бұрын
@@paipai9545 thank you for the kind comment. I appreciate it and glad that you enjoyed the video. Yes the trip from Pta to Cape Town was a two night trip on the train. It included a night in Cape Town. One thing I have learned from others who took this same trip is that sometimes because of cable theft, the train doesn't make it all the way to the Cape and then they load passengers on a bus to finish the trip. In that case, which isn't often, then passengers don't get to do the Kimberley excursion. Hope that helps and adds some context

Just went to a beach wedding in solana beach, the wedding buffet was delicious! But its very windy and the beach is not rhe best, very rocky. But you could drive or walk for some 100-200m and have the beautiful beach of long beach next door or the public beach of belle mare.

Hi there thanks for the great comment. Glad you liked the video. We loved it all. There were honestly nothing that we didn’t like. Because we were on all inclusive we started at the resort the whole time to make use of the breakfast, lunch, dinner and great cocktails. Also it wasn’t our first time in Mauritius, so we didn’t feel we needed to go explore again. We mostly use our cellphone’s and then I also use the Insta360 X3 360 camera, which gives you that perspective that someone else is filming it.

Australia, as you know were a little stricter than the rest of the world. Also we traveled during the start of 2022 when all Covid restrictions weren’t lifted yet. Unfortunately, whether we liked the masks or not, it was a requirement for travelling, so we had to do it in order to be able to go on the trip. Does that answer your question?

@johan_scheepers Жыл бұрын
Hi there. We went in February. We were booked on an all inclusive package which is for drinks and food. The non-motorised water activities were free of charge and you could do it every day if you wanted to. For other water activities you have to pay. All the water activities you see in this video was free of charge (all resort guests could do them). Hope this helps

Went last July and it was a blast from Sydney to Perth, great upload and thank .
@pv032 Жыл бұрын
First of all, on behalf of all Australians, I'm sorry to hear that our national carrier (which is by far the most expensive option to fly domestically) couldn't even do a simple thing like carry your luggage from one airport to the next. That's really embarrassing! I know who I WON'T be flying with. Secondly I was very surprised to learn that you took a standard/local intercity train from Katoomba to Sydney Central when in fact you should have been put back in your platinum cabin (for the remaining TWO HOUR trip to Sydney) because THATS's what you paid for - that is: Perth to Sydney NOT Perth to Katoomba!!! You should have been enjoying more free drinks in the 'Outback Explorer Lounge' or the comfort and privacy of your own cabin as you were making your way down the mountains towards Sydney. For the record, I am a long-time Sydney resident that has taken the Indian Pacific train the opposite way to Perth and has also taken The Ghan train from Darwin to Adelaide, so I am very familiar with Journey Beyond's services (and prices). Considering how much you paid for the trip, Journey Beyond putting you on a regular commuter service even for a fraction of the trip is NOT acceptable! Did the company at least forewarn people that if they took the Blue Mountains/Katoomba 'optional tour' they would be giving up their seat on the Indian Pacific train back to Sydney? It would be interesting to know.
@FromtheWindowSeat Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it’s not possible to hold the Indian Pacific in the Blue Mountains for the duration of passengers who choose to do the off-train excursion there (passengers can also choose to stay on the train and continue to Sydney). There are a number of reasons for this but key ones are that the IP requires time to be divided and shunted across up to three platforms at Central Station (because of its length), to be unloaded, to be cleaned, and then to board the eastbound passengers, and to depart Central well before the evening peak because the platforms are needed for other services. The timing is also constrained by limited paths on the Sydney Trains network … so it’s not ideal but the best compromise they can come up with. 🤔
@pv032 Жыл бұрын
@@FromtheWindowSeat Fair enough. Katoomba's platforms are not long enough to accommodate the length of a train like the IP, nor can the IP block other trains from using the line through Katoomba for hours on end. The only way they could have done it is if they parked the IP at the often-empty train yard sidings in the town of Mt Victoria (around 17km NW of Katoomba) and then used buses to shuttle passengers to Katoomba (for their Blue Mountains excursion) and then return them back to the train at Mt Victoria for the departure to Sydney. Journey Beyond could have even thrown in another optional excursion stopping at the Hydro Majestic Hotel in Medlow Bath (6km NW of Katoomba, and on the same road one would take to go to Katoomba from Mt Victoria) where passengers could enjoy high tea with a lovely view of the Megalong Valley below. This would've given local bus companies some extra charter business as well as provided more exposure to places like the Hydro Majestic. I guess where there's a will, there's a way. You can understand my disappointment though yeah? It's like flying Business or First Class and then just two hours before you land at your destination, you get booted to Economy.
@FromtheWindowSeat Жыл бұрын
@@pv032 Yeah - I can understand. I’m pretty sure customers would be told that if they take the off-train excursion they will finish their trip on a commute train. That said, it’s a chartered train and the V sets used are a favourite among rail aficionados. So personally, I would quite enjoy having exclusive access to a V set. 🤓

@johan_scheepers Жыл бұрын
As with any other country that's not pro gay, I would advise to be cautious. We didn't pick up any hatr from the Mauritian people but were also not overly affectionate. We have been there twice and both times were great. We are going again in Sep for a wedding. We also mainly stay at the resort we booked at where everything is very touristy and where I don't think you will have a problem.

@@johan_scheepers Thanks a lot for such a prompt answer. I understand that PDA (public display of affection) is a no no, we as a gay couple are always discreet and careful ( We are Czechs btw ) but people are not stupid and if they see 2 guys ... We are also planning to spend some of the time at hotel however we prefer self-catering (I already booked an apartment in Poste Lafayette called Eastern Blue looks amazing ) which is not a hotel , altogether we want to spend some 24 days in Mauritius since it is such a long way from the Czech Republic. In any case, thanks for the reply again and if you have any tips let me know. BTW if the wedding you mentioned is concerning you and your partner Congratulations and wishing well. Regards Jiri

Mauritius is not pro gay but we recently had a landmark judgement from the supreme court declaring the offence of sodomy between male homesexuals to be anti constitutional. You would not be too bothered here.. gays are not persecuted. But I would not advice PDA in certain areas for ex in muslim areas of port Louis. In most hotels and other touristic areas you would have no issues.
