Comparing a long action caliber to a short action and being surprised the long action is more powerful, shocking. Whats next, being surprised a 300 win mag is a better caliber versus the 270 win?

I bought the DiscoveryOpt 5-25x56 ed-prs scope and mounted it on my 6.5 grendel AR. It's almost as good as the premium long range tactical scopes I've used in the past, but a quarter of the cost. I'm building a 556 spr and plan on buying another DiscoveryOpt to put on it.

The fact that the 277 is doing all of this out of a 13" barrel and the 308 out of a 20" and this guy doesn't mention it tells me to never trust another word out of his mouth

Yes. Just stay away from match grade bullets. Stick bonded or expandable solids and you're good.

Apples n Oranges. Bolt gun ammo compared to AR-15 gas gun ammo. Bolt guns can handle 10,000psi more chamber pressure. 6mm ARC can be loaded with 62gr up to 112gr projectiles. Outperforms is not how I would describe the 22needsmoor. How much powder does it take to get the velocity you speak of? Is that out of a 24" or 26" barrel? The ARC cartridges were designed for 18" barrels. Again I say. Apples to Oranges. I've never seen a Orange Apple. Just my 2 pennies. I'll take the ARC.💯🇺🇲. 🐑🚫

Doesn't the 6mm arc come in an 80 grain eld vmatch? Wouldn't it have been better to use the same grain when comparing?

A 6.8 will always penetrate more than .308 if bullets are same weight. Try bullets of same Sectional Density for a fair comparison.

Hey, when you compare ballistics, match bullet sectional density, not grain weight. It will give a closer comparison across different calibers

You're comparing a long action cartridge to a short action cartridge. You should expect the long action cartridge to offer better performance, at least initially. Note, however, that the 6.5 has a higher BC. That means it is only a matter of time before it catches, then surpasses, the .270 Win. The .270 can beat the Creedmoor, but it requires a fast twist barrel with longer, heavier projectiles, and even then, it's still a long action compared to a short action.

Yeah, but who said otherwise? 65 Creedmoor will still do the job and is also in a short action and has just as many off the shelf ammo options as a 270 I like them both, but why make an argument on something that nobody arguing about?

Wouldn’t the 40 be in the lead, since it’s dumping all its energy in each target? I thought over penetration was a bad thing.

Those 350 grain round nose do about 1750 fps. You can get 400 grain Beo ammo from AA that does 1800+ fps, as well as extreme penetrator rounds.

It kinda depends where you live, the area and such. If you have no neighbors and a long driveway with gate closed and no one ever goes there that's different from living in some neighborhood.

Definitely want to get one of these for my son (really for me tho!). He’s small for his age (7 year old, only 40 pounds). I think this round when a can would be a great combo for him, and can double as my predator/pronghorn gun.
