Came here after I saw your tweet about how this review was liked by Kojima etc. Very good review, mate. I played death Stranding for the very first time last year and wow... What an experience. So much of it felt as if it was designed to tick my personal taste boxes lol. I share a number of grievances with the game that you do (interruptions from NPC, the writing feeling a bit stilted at times cuz of the exposition dumps etc). That all aside, I think this is a phenomenal game. A 9/10 for me which delivered a truly unique experience and comes with my highest recommendations. Also, I very much agree with what you said at the end of the video. I've urged some strangers online and friends to try this game. I always tell them that you don't have to like or even complete it... But before writing it off wholesale, at least give it a little bit of time and engage with it on its own terms. I genuinely think that it is a game that everyone should try playing at least once, give it a few hours. Cuz it's quite special. Those moments where a song would start playing at the perfect or unexpected moment, or when I would find a random safe house in an otherwise desolate landscape, or find a hot springs after a TERRIBLE first trudge through the snowy mountains, or when a player threw me hematic grenades during a fight, and most importantly: when I contributed to the roads, and built structures and saw that it made a difference in another player's journey.... Everything clicked in place and it was just sublime. Absolutely cannot wait for the sequel. PS: that first dunkey review... Is not great lol. He did revisit that game in a video titled, "Revisiting Death Stranding" and I found it to be fair, balanced, and genuine. Much more reflective of him as a critic. Check it out if ya haven't. Don't agree with him on everything he had to say, but I get where he's coming from. He also shared my issue with the exposition-heavy, over-explainy nature of the game's writing (dialogue and notes etc).

I have it on switch and it's unplayable with joy cons. I'm going to get it for ps4 and try again with switch after I get a pro controller.

Got on switch coz need a sf or mk while on the move, thought I've got pro pad I'm good to go, wrong d pad is dead always thought I had powers with zangief, joycons and pro pad made me feel like I'd lost my powers, BTW I'm 40 been beating SF a long time doing raging demons in my sleep 😴 getting adapter so can use ps3/ps4 pad is my best option, although I will admit I've played SF solely on PS3/4 for past 10/15 years so ps controller is what I'm used to

I like it, better on the switch. You take anywhere to go. I highly recommend, getting the switch pro controller for ,an overall good experience.

I have the switch version, and I've gotten used to playing online with the joy-con controllers. I don't use the sticks, just the d-pad. (Because I grew up d-padding fighting games lol)
