What is it about 'isms?' They destroy everything. Actually, McManus's substack essay is a real humdinger, very lucid, very easy to read. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to understand the conservative versus progressive approaches to the 'good life.' Not, of course, that cleverly written essays will make the slightest difference to anything. As we speak (read) Western civilization is like a small vessel heading towards the rapids. PS McManus speaks at breakneck speed. He reminds me of Ben Shapiro. Pity.

This is shallow and sentimental, aside from being indecisive. This attempt to make the conflict bothsideism is cowardly an intellectual not willing to discern between Truth and Error. Goodness and Evil.

I would love to see an interview with David Bentley Hart, I know he’s not necessarily a part of the milieu of the “post-liberal” and he has a bad case of TDS but I think his political thinking is very much aligned with the cracks in Pomo / Christian Socialism/alternative and he’s also one of the greatest living theologians and philosophers. Would love to hear you two chat

As it is said in this podcast, we should see ourselves as human beings above all else. And never let go of hope for unity. If we continue to do nothing about changing our world economic system to be more fair and balanced, innocent people will continue to die. This is because groups of people higher up the economic chain will continue to fund groups who are lower on this chain. Disinformation will continue to be fed to the masses and the killing will be promoted and continued… on all sides. It’s a huge tragedy. Once again, the only decent solution is to change our current global economic system. I’ve been looking into unicoin. I know this seems way off topic but it’s not. The reason for much of war (if not all) is that there is instability in the geopolitical ‘courtyard’ when it comes to new technology resources, e.g. - things like rare earth minerals, alternative energy sources, etc. For instance, what are Iran or Arab nations going to do in the future of this quickly advancing technological age if they continue to rely on oil as their main resource? New investment for them needs to take place on a large scale. And firstly, the world needs fair trading practices and an end to improper conversion rate usage before we can get to even resource distribution between all nations large and small. Ultimately a stable coin like unicoin could bring us in that direction. Please everyone, don’t judge and please look into this. If you look closely enough, behind every war you will find it will usually lead to the imbalance of power due to our current world banking system’s inability to promote real universal equity. We need a new universal way to bank/invest fairly across the globe. This is so very important. And for all out there who may have been influenced by current ‘status quo media’ to think negativity about this concept or unicoin in relation to UMU, you need to look deeper. If done properly, this transition will bring less disruption, not more. Below is a link that will explain the truth about unicoin. It’s long but worth watching until the end. It will explain everything better than I can. And for all you ‘paranoids’ out there, it has absolutely nothing to do with conspiracy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmeZapiGn6-UrMk

Very good interview. I appreciated the cultural/spiritual question of how do we get people engaged in one’s local community. Somehow there needs to be advocates/prophets/cultural commentators calling people into that engagement. One question is from which sphere(s) should that be happening? Perhaps as many as possible, but which voices have the most cachet?

this is of course nothing personal and i'm sure he's a nice guy or whatever, ... but why do people like that write books'? i stopped listening half way through, seems pretty clueless on most of these things like democracy, even disoriented like the "average joe", offering no insights, just noise

Thanks for the interview - especially the way you kind of took a meta-position to other positions - critiquing them without mocking them. We all need to be compassionate to the irrationality and madness of ourselves in our youth and to people still totally captured by certain delusions which no longer hold us in their complete thrall.

The error here is that you're conflating some angst about the world as "spiritual anxiety" and then embroidering that to be that people sin. That's not new. People have been as5holes for the entire history of people. That the Tea Partiers couldn't answer your question says more about their collective age and inexperience and also the utter domination and chokehold that christianity has inflicted on society for centuries. What policy did you want them to spout? What would have been a good-enough answer to that question for you? That's akin to proving a negative--can't be done. And what a joke for you to be slamming Protestant America when Catholicism has been sheltering pedophiles for at least decades and possibly (probably in my view) hundreds of years. That the speaker graduated from two Jesuit schools and now teaches at a Jesuit school is pretty telling. Here's my answer to the question of policy: Government that governs least governs best. Get it OUT OF EDUCATION, MARRIAGE/DIVORCE, medical care, and all the other stuff it has no business being in and that it sucks at. I don't need their permission to have a dog. They can provide law enforcement for actual crimes, build roads and bridges to facilitate the economy, and provision security from invaders. They can hardly manage to do those things so they don't need to be involved in any of that other stuff.

Awesome and intriguing podcast! I think that Marijuana is permissible for immense pain and other severe medical conditions, instead of pharmaceutical painkillers... Anything in excess is disordered. I like to enjoy a cigarette when I'm with my European friends and family. Everyone in Bosnia & Herzegovina smokes and drinks coffee, even inside buildings :) There is a nebulizing cigarette type thing that is called Ripple+ and I absolutely love it... it tastes awesome and it has no nicotine. But it is fun and discrete to use. God bless :)
