hey! i not sure what's the issue, but my Peggy fooled me bad once. It was not running at all, cracking like there is not spark or fuel. Indeed i tought my carbs were jammed or similar. i dismanteled it a couple of times, checked the fuel (was ok), cleaned the carbs (everything was clean) but nothing. Than i was to give up, and the bike started like magic...running like an old tractor but running. Than i drove it for 4/5 km, stopped and after a while i wanted to start it back and nothing...again dead. Again i was thinking something about the carbs....but no, after several attempts (the bike was opened 10 times), i reallized that the issue was ONLY, and i underline ONLY a faulty (or partially) faulty spark plug...it was running only if it was warm enough...but was not running at all under a certain temp, humidity and so on. I bought a new Iridium spark plug and now i have no issues anymore. working like a Swiss clock since 3 years. Also upgrade the battery. The original 160A start current battery i think is too low. I have solved all of the staring issues buying a new GEL type battery with a start current of 200A. The starter has more power cranking the engine and the overall spark for the ignition is much better resulting in a quick start up. Besically if you rebuild the carbs, change the Starter clutch, upgrade the battery to 200A of start current, new Iridium spark plug, you should not have any issues. At least for my Peg it really worked and now is so reliable that puts a big smile on my face every time i use it. Oh yes, regarding the fuel mixture. I had really bad fuel consumption, like and average 10-12 km/l overall (city + open road). I made some experiments, this is what i found... -With the original Air filter, from the "Aprilia's Manual", you should have the Clip on the 3 round of thr carb Needls, meanwhile under the carbs the fuel jet screw unwinded at 3-3.5 turns. With this fuel mixture i had really bad fuel consumption, yes it works but goes rough on the low RPMs (from 1500 to 2500), after that is better but makes some blackish smoke on full throttle. Analayzing the spark plut colour, it was really dark with a lot of carbon deposits (too rich). The main jets are standard 112.5 -After almost 7 years of ownership i have made my own carb settings. -original Air filter - Clip on the first upper round of the needle (the needle goes as deeper as possible) - The fuel jet screw unwinded at 2.5 - 2.75 (you will need to open it a bit at 3 rounds if the outside temp will go more that 30 degrees Celsius) - The main jets are 100 With this Carb Setup i am going at 17/18km/L with no regards of the throttle :D also in the low-mid RPM, the bike is extremly more gentle, no puch pushes as before and also the throttle is more reactive and has a better feeling. P.S with this carb setup i had a drag versus a CF MOTO 700MT (35kw) and i was faster :D ROTAX Power!! Cheers!

Just filled up at my local "Gas Station" (feck off it's the "Petrol Garage"), set the trip to "0", and ride until I have to put the reserve on. Then I know by my mileage how far I can go before I needed to fill up again. (No fancy fuel gage's on my old bikes). Always used the same garage, and the same fuel. Sorry to hear about your depression. I also have problems with it. A lot of people have low levels of Vitamin D in there system in this country, which independent studies have shown has a big effect on your mental health. (And your immune system) I've started taking vitamin D 3 pills (2000 I u ) and this has made a big difference to my mood. It's cheaply (£8 for 96 pills ) and easily available from Super Drug and similar places . Certainly worth a try. Have a look at Dr John Campbells you tube videos, he's done a few about vitamin d. My Fjr battery goes too flat to start after about 2 week's, probably because of the alarm/immobilizer. So I've got a 12v power socket fitted to mine and I charge the battery through this regularly to keep it up to snuff. Hope things improve for you Best wishes

I think it was a BSA a10 Road Rocket, or Super Rocket, (might have been a Triumph). Every left hand turn the main stand showered sparks out from the massive horse shoe that wrapped around the exhaust pipe with the little foot pad for standing the bike up. Eventually the outside half of the horse shoe fell off, It just "ground" away (bloody 17 year old on a 650 with no brains).

Why do I hear the engine shift on an automatic scooter?
