Wow. Not being dramatic here, I literally just walked in from work. But this version, woah! Just makes me physically STOP in place, and just...listen.

Stunning. Have watched this video at least once every month or so since 2011. Will never, ever get old. One of the most heartbreaking songs ever written.

Oh sweet Anna did you see what you did to me I've been trying hard to be cautious I've been sinking, I've been sinking on the deep blue seas How long can you count to a thousand? I tried drinking but the bottle is still empty Love is nothing more than a fraction I tried swimming but I guess you could not love me Love is nothing more than a thousand Well I could be a bigger man, bigger man I could be a bigger man, bigger man But I just wanna kill a man, kill a man Really, what's a bigger man? My good leader what I self-loving web you weave I have got a son and a daughter My young sailor what a point, that you just can't see Don't you think that they need a father? I tried drinking but my god I'm so still empty I can only hope for a fresh one I tried swimming but Andy is gonna be okay I can only hope for a loved one So really what's a bigger man, bigger man? Let's do it for the bigger man, bigger man Well I just wanna see the plan, see the plan Really what's a plan? [Instrumental] So my sweet darling I am writing from on the sea I cannot tell you how much I miss you I swore Jesus was watching, watching over me Sometimes I am frankly not convinced That all that I'm singing is nothing but misery God I love myself more than you do So don't stop breathing god, I just need to breathe Love is nothing more than an action These are the lyrics he sings for this performance of the song for those asking for them...
@NoneMorning8 жыл бұрын
+shortbread1818 He may have said "What a self-loathing web you weave" from what I hear, but story wise that wouldn't make sense since the Captain is the leader and at that point he is speaking to the captain, and in the original he says self-loving. Idk.
@shortbread18188 жыл бұрын
+Alec Shivian Yeah you're right, it definitely sounds more like self-loathing! I'll fix it in my comment next time I'm on the computer.

Such a great song. I love this lyrical arrangement as well; it's more abstract, yet fitting to the sailor's state, I think.
