Thank you for the video. I'm considering an extended stay out there near a foghorn and am curious about whether it will drive me crazy. I think it will!

No it’s sort of cool. I slept through it. I wish I could have stayed out there I love it so much. Business and family come first. Gotta make a living and enjoy our grandchildren.

Too old should be transparent..these will work but if you want queens that drop 13 wall to wall brood deep frames in fall at 3 yrs old go for ones smaller.

Once i was walking up to my bee yard, wearing flip flops. I was a good 50 ft from my hives. A bee flew perfectly between my flip flop and foot. Another time i was in my honey house slinging honey while wearing flip flops. A little be managed to get herself caught between the strap on my flop and foot. Both times i was plucking a stinger out of my foot. I stopped doing that.

I wear my flip flop a lot mid summer. Not as much spring and fall. Get the odd sting but it doesn’t bother me as much a wearing hot boots

You’ll get better queens using younger larvae just starting to curl. These are 24-36hrs older and the queen quality will go down. You want to get a close to a 3 day old egg as possible.

Hello there from Ontario. Thank You for the video. I assume that You are from area and I am currently looking for property on the shoreline of Baccaro Rd. Could You please respond to this message as I would love to ask few questions. Thank You in advance

Hi. What would you like to know? This is a beautiful area. If we were able to live in Nova Scotia this would be the area we would be for sure. We bought this house out there and did renovations. When we came home to Ontario in the spring we realized we can’t be that far away from our grandkids. So we sold the house. It just closed a week ago. People from Ontario bought it from us.

Thank You for such fast replay. Baccaro Rd, north west of the lighthouse - how windy can be ? In Your opinion - there were destroyed houses during storms ? Property is about 15min from that beach You've posted. The house is appx. 70m from the shore and I am kind of concerned. Thank You again @@beesandboats5906

Can get a bit windy there for sure but there are lots of houses that have been there for over 100 years and still standing. The house we had was a couple minutes before that bridge in port latour across from the docks. It was built in 1857. It seams like all the bad weather and fires go around that area. We actually were thinking of buying another one that came up for sale in Baccaro a few weeks ago. It was an older house but we waited to long and it sold. With you commenting on here it got me to watch the walk on the beech again and I am sickened that I am stuck in northern Ontario this winter. Last winter being out there was fantastic. There was only about 5 days that the snow stayed on the ground. And most days got above zero. As long as your house is built well I wound see any problems.

Take them capped brood frames, stock at least 8 wood to wood deep frames in,shake couple frames of bees of open brood..walk away for a few days, come back and cut out any emergency cells ,wait another 5 days ,graft,spray bees down with syrup add feeder on top of lid in a gallon jar..thank me later,you'll have waaay better cells than stocking brood and shaking some bees in and grafting.

@Happy-ze4bm Жыл бұрын
What are they eating
@beesandboats5906 Жыл бұрын
What they have on top of the bars is just a protein patty. It is a pollen substitute for in the spring when there is no pollen or nectar. They need protein to be able to make the bee bread that they feed the babies. It’s a mixture of pollen and nectars and enzymes from the bees. When producing queens you want to overwhelm the hive with resources to be able to feed the larva royal jelly which is what helps to change the larva into a queen. The egg that is used to produce a queen is the same as an egg that makes a worker bee but the bees treat it differently and feed it differently and that is what makes it a queen.
@Happy-ze4bm Жыл бұрын
I didn’t know about that before. Post more about process please
