Went to visit relatives in Montana and ended up on Hwy 2 in the dark, in a storm... few miles in my mother says: "wonder what all those big red splotches are?" We passed a couple more before realizing it was deer smears. Made sense when you realized every red splotch had sparkly glass nearby.... My uncle wasn't too happy when he found out what route I took in. But we made it, and no, I never told him I almost made it to Canada, I was so lostish.... it's the journey not the destination though, right? Luck of the dumb, I guess.

Good evening to you wherever you may be. I like your channel for a few reasons. Ok, to be honest, I have only watched a few videos so far. But I am a LOVER of the Great Basin and the topography I see in your travels through Nevada. I like that you don't try to entertain us with music. So many others do and it ruins the experience for me. Another thing I like is the low-key attitude you both display. I like that you don't get upset and cuss spit and holler. In the last video I just watched, you even try to convey the aroma of the Pinyon Pine Juniper forest. That is the most pleasant smell I have ever known. I also like that you are heavy on product endorsements. I have a deep love for the pinyon/juniper woodlands of Nevada, and you allowed me to be there with you without being there. I return to the GB myself next April to live out the remainder of however long of a life God allows me to live. So, thatnk you, happy trails, stay safe and God bless.

Right there with you, I could rant for hours. It's to the point where we expect to spend anywhere from 15-30 minutes cleaning up a site when we pull in now. Pack it in Pack it out includes: your garbage, your dogs poop, your poop (pack it or plow it). Pack it in pack it out doesn't mean throwing everything in the fire ring including non-combustibles like cans and bottles. It's lazy and rude. There are countries that can only dream about the amount of and beauty of our publicly owned lands, that some people feel they have the right to trash them is infuriating!

I will add to carrying a shovel or trowel, carry doggie poop bags. I always put my TP in the doggie poop bag and carry it out. TP takes too long to break down and animals and elements make it surface.

Good solid information conveyed with some wisdom and common sense. Which likely will go ignored by those it should be heeded by as many seem to think pepper spray or bells or singing to themselves is all they need to keep predators at bay.

Yes, I’ve seen day laborers do that on the job site. Just drop their pants and poop right on the ground. That’s how they did it in the country they came from, so that’s how they do it here. The boss had to introduce them to the portapotti. “Every state is a border state.”

Stunning views! Too bad about the skeeters up high, there. Neat "satchel"! I have something like that but in black nylon w/ a wider storage pouch for some gonleather, ears, n' stuff. I keep my 5-round Ruger Scout or 5-round Franchi M.A.T.E. Magpul mags in it. It does hold the standard-cap Stoner stuff, too, but I only have one o' them thar corntraptions. I'm mostly a lever action guy.

That's an interesting observation because it's been determined that the Mesa Verde indians, Hopi and others, left those areas because they simply ran out of firewood.

I was camping at a very popular camping area on 89A a while back and was also amazed at the amount of toilet paper that was in the shrubbery around the area. So I got a trash bag and started cleaning up and came to an interesting conclusion. There was very little solid waste around and all of these wads of toilet paper hadn't been used for that. It was mostly being left by females after they'd gone #1. Apparently they feel that picking up after themselves is beneath them and I guarantee you could fasten a trowel to every bush within a quarter mile and you'll still find barely used toilet paper everywhere there's a popular place to camp especially if it's near a college town.

There should be a law that requires one to carry a shovel to be out in nature. Do you really need that much ammo? You expecting a battle?

You were literally less than a mile from a very nice spot that has some quad traffic, but not like what you're talking about. I stay there through much of the Spring/Summer/Fall and rarely hear any quad noise/dust. There are weekends like the Fourth of July where you run into that more, but not much at this location... Lots of Elk, Deer and Sasquatch

Yeah, I love how some of the younger generation yell at us older folks saying our generation caused all the pollution, but they don't even know how to 💩 in the woods, nor do they understand cloth baby diapers, paper bags vs plastic bags, and on and on. Like you said, common sense which seems to be totally unknown to some. Loved all the red rock and structures! Again using what you had to live a good bit simple life very efficiently. I had never seen this place before. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.😁
