Man, thanks a ton for the video!!..... I was having a very hard time trying to remove that retainer clip! Didn't know how much to compress the spring so as to loosen the tension and take it off... That tool looks just appropriate for the job... Thanks!

Nice work. Do you know if there's an upgrade for the rear disc too?
@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton 5 ай бұрын
You can scuff the rear disc with sandpaper to increase bite. Or try EBC brake pads. And or a stainless steel brake lines

I literally couldn't get it out of first gear 90% of the time on the fun, twisty, hilly trails at my buddies house. The bike was always running the fan and I was always reving up and down first. I took a mildly educated guess and swapped a 45t in. PERFECT range now. It's a trail weapon and runs perfectly fine about the city and countryside... where a d/s belongs. Who are the people running 75 on these things anyway???
@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton 9 ай бұрын
Lots of people use these as adventure touring bikes. And off there is boring hwy sections between the cool bits. Awesome that the 45 is working so well for you!

Beneficial on it's own, or cams needed to capitalize?
@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton 10 ай бұрын
In my opinion the cbr300r intake tube/boot/ velocity stack is beneficial even with the stock cams. It improves power 4000-11000 rpm with the most noticeable gains above 8400 rpm. The OEM crf300l is only good for low rpm power. About 2-7600. After 6000rpm it is choking the motor.

Why would you put such a feature in the intake path of air flow???🤔 Leftover from plastic welding assembly of the box?🤷

I struggled for 5 min and then built the jig to hold pressure on the rod. Then i pressed down on the large washer with a screwdriver and kept trying to get the pick under the circlip. It did not feel like i was winning. And then it just popped. I finally got the pick under it. Keep at it. You'll get it.

Are the PNs the same on ABS and non ABS bikes?
@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton Жыл бұрын
yes, they should be. The abs bikes have a separate abs ring that bolts on.

Just changing the front sprocket to a 15 drops the revs to about 6375 rpms at 70 mph in 6th gear. Down from about 6,850 rpms with the stock gearing. And since you still have that 1st granny gear (yes, still), you should be able to still take off in 2nd and feel little or no effect on the trail. So besides this, changing the seat to a seat concepts at $325, adding a Parabellum windscreen at $109, extended range fuel tank (acerbis/ims) which is about 3.5 gals at about $300, tusk handguard with turn signals at about less than $80 (many to choose) you are at under $800 for long term highway riding. Then.....don't forget about the suspension, which may be another $1,000 on top. Finally, if you are travelling you need some luggage and rack($$$). Oh wait, I forgot about ECU, filter/airbox mode and slip on.....I think you may be at $3K by now? Throw in the price of what you, the consumer, paid for the bike. How much are we at? (The tires can be changed for better ones when they wear out....) How much is that KTM390 adventure for? $7,400? And that included an excellent suspension, enough power that you will not need to upgrade, no screen needed since its included, a 3.8 gallon fuel tank and it weighs in at less than 50lbs more than that crf300 rallye model. Just change the tires to lean on the more aggressive off-road side when they are worn out. Yes the Honda will be more off-road oriented but you do need to modify it...a lot and at a cost, to offer what the KTM does.

I personally dont feel like a 15 tooth front sprocket is a good idea. The crf300l doesn't have the power to pull it. At most id use 14/39 gearing. As for the ktm390. It has street bike geometry with slanted footpegs and not very much ground clearance.

It transformed the braking experience. You get way better lever feel and you get more braking with less lever effort. It feels much better on the trails and in traffic. I would definitely recommend this upgrade to everyone.

Does 300l measure speed on a crank or wheel? Do you have to fix your speedo reading after gering change?
@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton Жыл бұрын
It measures it of the transmission output shaft. You can use a speedo healer to correct your speedometer after gearing changes. I have never used a speedo healer. I just figure out the % I'm out; and correct for it in my head. Stock the bike is out 5-7% so 100km/h on the speedo is only 93 or 95 gps. 105kph = 100 kph

@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton Жыл бұрын
the Cbr 300r intake boot is a 40mm instead of the stock 35mm. More air = more hp the Rally rotor is a floating disc, it is able to move to better center on the brake pads in the semi floating caliper. It also manages heat better because it is a floating disc. My wife and i use our Dual sports for adventure touring. loaded up with luggage the stock crf300l brakes felt terrible

Hi, just purchased a 300l and want to do this to mine. Did you have to disconnect the brake line and reroute around turn signal and reconnect it? Thanks
@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton Жыл бұрын
I did not have to disconnect it. I just took the top bracket off and losened the lower bracket. There is just enough slack in the brake line to tuck it around the signal.

What is the difference in the bracket you installed?
@AceCarleton

The new bracket moves the caliper further away from the fork. This places the brake caliper and pads in the correct position for the new rotor. Old rotor 260mm. New rotor 296mm

Tks - too late for me. Didn't have any melting for the first couple thousand km - then rode an hour plus of sand on one day and wow, melted the hell out of the side of the fender. Didn't think much about it - removed the melted part and figured that was the end of it. Added an aluminium license plate holder which must direct that hot air underneath and now have a massive hole underneath on the right side of the fender....lord knows what FMF was thinking. Anyway - too late for me, but if anyone sees this comment - pls do what Andrew suggests before its too late!!!!

What gas tank is that you have mounted on your XT250? Looks definitely bigger than the stock tank and did it require much modification to fit correctly? Thanks
@AceCarleton
@AceCarleton 4 жыл бұрын
The Efi xt250 uses the same fuel pump mount as the wr250r. It is a wr250r 3.7 gallon safari tank. You will need to use the factory wr250r gas tank mounts as well. Then it was as simple as fabricating mounts to bolt the wr250r tank to the xt250 frame. We covered the xt250 frame rails in bicycle tires to help support the tank and isolate it from vibrations. The ims tanks for the wr250r do NOT work on the Xt250 as the molds are different
